HappyHappy How to get your record label out there

I was wondering if you know anything about setting a record label and relesing your music to that big, wide world I love to release my own music, but I don't know how you do it

When your distributing your records do you do it by internet or through other labels ?

Post me your views on how to release your music

From Ben

i would imagine u would need quite a bit of money to get it started

What Mikey said. Also speak to Sirocco, I think he was doing this for his Land Dweller releases. I may be wrong, though.

theres many things you can do to start a label. if you want a label to release ur records...good luck. make sure ur stuff is quality and everyone is hammering it.

right now i dont advice you to start ur own label because of the economy alot of people have stopped buying records. you need to find a good distributor. if you dont have one...then no one is going to buy your stuff.

also if ur thinking about making money??? good luck there isnt much money involved in a label. you need to pay for vinyls, artist (which usually takes up 50% of ur profit), employee (if you have any), business expenses (phone bills, rent, A/C, heating, etc), taxes (import taxes, business lic), and finally your self...what ever is left over which isnt very much.

you need to market ur label...like crazy. you need to keep getting in touch with record shops + distributors. u need to make sure if people are hammering ur tracks or not. its alot of hassle. you need to contact djs...sometimes they wont never respond cause ur shit is crap.

if you just want to release records...go give ur stuff to labels. hopefully they will like it and sign it. if they dont then search for another label. but dont give them crap if ur shit sucks.

word of advice...dont give ur tracks out unless its signed to a label . not even your tranceaddicts buddies should have promo's or cdrs unless its signed to a label.

he's 15
he's not starting a label.....
the best way is to get in touch with DJ's who own labels...
post some samples of your stuff in the amateur forum, a lot of labels browse it looking for talent

thats interesting...i didn't know that labels browsed that forum hehehe...kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy...any examples?? i guess that makes sense though being that we are a big site hehehe. anyway, as far as the question...you really need to get on another label before you start thinking of creating your own. like amit said, fixed costs along with promotion can be a bitch so you will want to be well established before you start a label...look at all the dj's with their own labels...tiesto...pvd...armin...0akenfold...i'm pretty sure most of them were well established and known before they started up a company...

actually, I underestimated theres a fair few guys on here that have fairly succesful labels......
most trance records are shit in your opinion
but your opinion means shit to anyone that matters......
you have a look at my tranceairwave sets, see if I've got the same tracklists as other DJ's
it's not the labels fault if everyone wants to be like armin....

Worm Popper My record labels

My records are very important to me. How do I get them pressed onto vinyl ? Does that co$t alot of money just to send it and do the actual process

It does depend on wot record label, cos I know a few labels that are internet-based, so you can send you stuff as M.P3 format instead of vinyl or DAT.
