Smiley DJ The UKTA Night - July 12th - Be there or be in Micheal Barrymorr's swimming pool

starting a new not stupidly oversized thread.

will copy some releavant facts into here.

It will be held at the Halcyon Bar in sheffield.

The idea is to do this as cheap as possible with all the DJ's playing for free and getting the venue for free etc.
We can't afford to have to pay for Jon.
as i see it at the mo, our only expense is getting flyers printed.
The venue is free cos we dont make any money out of it, they take door money and drinks money and we provide a evenings entertainment for 3 reasons.

1: see how well a night like Add:ction would go down
2: to proove our DJ's are capable of doing it and the ppl organising it are capable of doing it
3: to give 1st time out DJ's like Luke, jeff and Dave some experience.

Then we ask for a 2nd night at the same venue, with a couple of other DJ's involved.
If we can pull that off with success then we start talking money, we wont get venues wanting to let us use them with no name DJ's if we can not proove that we are capable of sucess.

It's down to us to make this work.

1- Wicked Neo
2- Dave Masters (daveC)
3- Luke Terry (Project T)
4? Kuffdam vs. DJ Money
5? 3-F (tu_face)

is the provisonal line up and subject to change depending who is available.

Reserves would be

Trintiy
Gibbo
Ultrafusion
DJ Matty

Cool

woo, come on !!!!!

right.. with regards to set times, if we open the doors at 9 & shut shut at 3, we can have enough time for an hours set each, with 2 headliners getting 1.5 hours.

now personally, ill play anywhere.. but i would prefer to play hard if at all possible..

and ste.. ive made subtle changes to ur post, just outlining the names of the DJs (dave MASTERS will back me up lol)

Posted by jon on Apr-28-2003 16:28:

rite whos for spamming sheffied with flyers on the 5th?

fair do's, altho i think luke wanted to be "luke terry"

Well, seeing as I'm on the reserve list and all that..it just so happens my brother works for Hallam FM - a radio station based in Sheffield....so I reckon he can easily give the night some on air promotion...I'll speak to him and see what he can do. He sometimes DJs on the Saturday night Dance show, which would be the perfect show to give this night some serious promotion on - let me know what you guys want....

Cheerz,
Mike Mackay.

As we've lost our main headliner, has anyone head of Andy Bagguley? hes about 19, and absolutely amazing (i know everyone always says that about DJ's but he is), and has officially been handed a monthly residency at Passion, so hes no-way near a shit DJ, plus hes started being a 'known name'. I know hes not a ukta, and i dunno if he'll even DJ, i havent asked him, im just asking u folks coz imo we cant have a night on full of non-proven DJ's, we need atleast some names. Andy would be one.

Hes a great guy personally and its an idea i thought id put forward.

Kuffdam is confirmed, and he will be playing a b2b set with Dj Money

i will start the night with a one hour warm up set prolly a proggy set to start the evening off slow and so the other dj's can build up the tempo as the night goes along

but if we had events in the future im sure it wud be ok for him to play as a healiner?

Posted by Ste on Apr-28-2003 17:58:

Av It, nice to see progress

Posted by Ste on Apr-28-2003 19:18:

ok, the guys providing the equiptment are also gonna be doing all the lights etc, sound of eden, some guys i designed an advert for who are friends of harry.

check out www.soundofeden.co.uk

only ctahc is we have to mention the night is in association with sound of eden on our advertising. but the gear will be free if we do that, plus we would get free advertising thru them and stuff i think.

so all is good

Posted by Andy C on Apr-28-2003 19:24:

cant grumble at that really!

Posted by tu_face on Apr-28-2003 19:24:

mint stuff ste, im sure we can do a little 'in association with' if it means free gear..

and ultrafusion: try and make that happen if u can pull that off we can probably get it streamed on the hallam fm website?? which would mean alot of listeners if we paste it about IRC and the forums..

luke, neo, nige| etc: is there any way we can stream for TAW as well..?

Jon O'Bir isnt a 100% rule out, ive spoke to him on msn and although i cant say publically the entire situation, he isnt ruled out and is talking to his agency.
