Join us for a rare in-store appearance by RICHIE HAWTIN spinning the latest and greatest via his vast mp3 collection exclusively on new and improved iPods. this is the first time Richie's exclusively used iPods in a DJ set.

He plans on playing a variety of new "tracks of the summer" plus music available from the iTunes music store PLUS making it extra special by playing selections from his newly recorded (yet to be released) Plastikman material. no stranger to bridging cutting edge technology with groundbreaking music, this will not be your normal in-store.

OHH lets watch some guy "SPIN" mp3s.... um yeah, if I wanted to watch a guy sitting at a computer I could look at my roomate

Do you have the slightest idea who Richie Hawtin IS!? How dare you questioning his DJing ability? Hawtin is the technically one of the best dj's out there (covering all genres of electronica). This guy is simply a genius who simultaneously spins vinyl and edits/re-mixes the tracks with software. It's called innovation. I saw him do a 4 hour set and was blown away both by the set itself and by the fact that he was working non-stop!

yeah, last time richie hawtin was at filter with sven vath the line was rediculous. stood in line for almost 30 minutes while moving only 2 feet. i went to baktun instead for chistopher smith and justin robertson, which was greatttttt.

Sorry to go off on a tangent...

You too can have a chance to spin with iPods - at the iParty, on Tuesdays at APT (near Filter 14)
They provide the music. You can bring your own iPod but they check your stuff first- I don't know what they check for, though.
You get 7 minutes, and you often have to wait a while, but it's fun.
Not having pitch control does suck, but give some time for that to change.

point being, apple is DEFINITELY paying him to do this, and he is definitely leading the edges of music. im not justifying spinning mp3s as a career, i'm merely stating that he is getting paid as a model/representatitve of apple. It's like starring in a Gap Commericial, or better yet OLD NAVY~!
lets put it into perspective before we rant and rave about the pro's and con's. apple trying to reach out to the edm community...obvious~! but i must comment since im anti-apple that their OS sucks. they build a really unstable system, but compensate by making it a really fast booting OS.
