Bird's Eye View of the Marijuana March

I didn't even know it was today but I took a pic... I was studying and this HUGE noise comes from outside on Bloor. Needless to say my balcony smells like shit.

As much as this march/demonstration means to some people, I doubt that most of the teenagers on the street there are serious to the cause of legalizing it for the purpose that is discussed by Prime Minister Chretien in the article posted the other day.

These are people who are going to be brain dead once they legalize this shit.

Posted by Abbas on May-03-2003 19:33:

they aren't brain dead now why would they be later?

cos now they are controlled by not being allowed to smoke it openly... once it gets legalized, they will take advantage of that factor and smoke up 10-12 times a day like a normal cigarette

More then that ... at least 40-50 times a day. Back in the days when I use to smoke that shit ... I had 5 to 6 joints/day. My friends are even worse

yea..well its the same situation as u rarely or secretly consume alcohol until u turn legal, and then in the first few months of turning legal, if u have enough money, u get plastered every weekend or as much as possible

Posted by corsten_addict on May-03-2003 20:23:

In Holland, despite it being legal, you are not allowed to smoke outside. And a large number of people actually follow that rule. It's good for people who don't smoke.

I dont see any smoke

i disagree...i used to get plastered almost every weekend in high school. way before legal drinking age. by the time i turned 19, the novelty of it wore off...maybe im just in the minority, i dont know...

Why do you think they are trying to legalize it anyway? Because bunch of people complained? Nah... because it's good for tourism and economy! Look at Amsterdam - that city gets shitload of tourists every year that come by just because marijuana is legal (did you think they visit Amsterdam because of their night clubs or something?)
Now imagine getting marijuana legalized in Canada... shiiiiiit. We'll be getting 10 times the number of tourists that we are now...

Posted by AwakenedAddict on May-10-2003 12:23:

The thing about legalization is(and i truely and wholely support it) that when pot gets legalized in Canada all the moron american tourists will come here to smoke. I'm american (actually i have dual :P) and i know the extent to which dumb americans will try to exploit Canada's sympathy to marijuanna users. In short, Canada will become a closer cheaper amsterdam! On the topic of weed, i just quit and man am i jonesing hard for a proper SPLIFF!!! GHAAAA

KarateKid

they also feel that it will reduce crime by removing the illegal trafficking of hemp crops ..

and i guess the gov't is more willing to do this since mj seems to a softer drug compared to its chemical counterparts which i don't see legalizing any time soon ..

ya tourism would defintely boost but I think theres no way this is gonna happen anytime soon since the US is so against it...amsterdam is surrounded by relatively liberal nations

lol yea i quit a few weeks ago too, well quit buying that is after like 2 years of smoking pretty much every day (about 7 times a day), now when i am around anyone with a j, im like "light it, light it, heres a light, looking for a lighter?" lol

but as far as legalization...imagine getting pulled over and the officer asking: "How many marijuana cigs have you had today?" and your response being "Just one sir" hahahaha
