Best Prog DJ, from a TA POV
Ofcourse prog people are gonna have some disagreements from trance people, so this is for us tranceaddicts.
Who from your POV(Point of view) is the best prog dj out there?
I say Sander Kleinenberg! THe guys if amazing. So much uplifting melody in a sea of deeper beats. Wicked mixing, and fantastic track selections. One of my fav overall DJ's, and definatly my fav prog dj.
What you think?
Edit: I saw Howells at GUV last year, fucking great! got a pic with him too! Very nice guy, great dj, first time i had actually heard a set by him.
I consider Sasha prog/trance, but more trance. So i dont include him in this vote.
prog wise
Sander Kleinenberg is amazing
Nick Warren Owns
John Digweed is just above the rest
Sasha owns
Danny Howells is great
Steve Lawler is dirty tribal
can't bloody decide
pappaa or howells
My POV: Sander Kleinenberg
Prog DJ: Sander Kleinenberg
Prog producer: James Holden
Its between sasha and sander kleinenburg for my POV.
<----
*edit - Well, the guy in m'avatar anyways*
Danny Howells
Most are way overrated.
I think Sasha and Digweed are fairly boring, they're too caught up in their own reputation to try and impress anyone.
I agree that Sander is one of if not the top Progressive talent. Every time I've seen him he's had me moving the whole time.
Danny Howells would be the only one who could contend, just cause he has so much flexibility and stage presence.
I'd say Steve Porter and Zabiela are up there too.

My Proggy lIst:
MV..lately
Scumfrog..Creapin Up On Me
Robbie Rivera..Always
Sander Kleinenberg..Legend
Haven't seen Sander yet, so I can't comment (don't wanna judge him by his radio sets and crap I download off the net, since most of it sucked)... but out of the DJs I've heard, Steve Lawler, Satoshi Tomiie and Hernan Cattaneo are up there... along with Deep Dish, of course.
I saw Sander Kleinenberg twice last year and he rocked the place both times.
Howells and Digweed definitely are my favorites.
no 1 can top the originality of digweed...he has one of the most unique sounds i ever heard. listen to "Sasha and john digweed - Live @ Delta Heavy Tour Miami 2002" live set if you want proof
.
other prog djs that i really enjoy include sander, nick warren, jimmy van M ( yes i know im just naming the bedrock dj's, but they are my fave by far).
One of my fave trance prog dj's would have to be john '00' flemming. Ever since i heard his essential mix ive been his biggest fan!

i wouldnt classify j00f as a prog dj tho cuz he gets melodic & throws a lil psy in there too which is awesome
.
Best prog DJs I've seen, in this order:
1) Danny Howells
2) Chris Fortier (waaayy under-rated)
3) Sander K
4) Dave Seaman
5) Sasha
Satoshi was okay, but nothing special. Nick Warren was good too, but plays to the crowd a bit too much. Timo was shite. Lawler was pretty good, but his sound didn't really work in the huge arena I saw him in.
Who else have I missed?
1) John Digweed <--- by far my #1, the way this man creates soundscapes that just scar your mind is incredible
2) Sander Kleinenberg <-- when I saw him last he was groovy as fuck
3) Sasha <--- the man is a classic, there's no denying it
4) Zabiela <--- a very talented dj, and will be big news in the next year
5) Deep Dish <--- masters of deep grooves.
sasha, John Digweed, and Deep Dish(i like what they do with the depech mode tunes
)
*mavo*
For the first time, i listened to James Zabiela's essential mix,

1. Seaman
2. Sander K.
3. Sasha
4. Howells
Seen them all. Dave Seaman owned my ass everytime I saw him. Sander K is also VERY good although I didn't like his set early on...too much crappy house for my liking but later on the beats were good. Sasha was very good when I saw him as well but I want more breaks and groovy prog instead of him just standing there spinning...wasn't too impressed. As for Howells he was good...
sander k put me to sleep last time i saw him...lots thick chugging house....meh
i really think max graham is the best..he plays such a wicked style of dark and hard progressive sets
digweed is unreal as well
I've been impressed with Elusive's Oslo nights sets
Digweed
All time:
Sasha: Mozart of electronic music. No one comes close to his ability to create a journey.
All the time:
Anthony Pappa: Always keeps the energy flowing. Amazing technical abilities. Always pumping sets.
Sander: Mind bending journey like sets. Almost sasha-like.
Howells: Creativeness and absolute unique track selection. Amazingly versatile and genre bending.
