college survival tips
even though it's only may and college is too far in the future, i'm already starting to get stressed out about picking dorms, moving in, living on my own, etc.
what are some of the necessary things a freshman should know about college? what to expect, what to be aware of? calm me down, will ya
Believe in trance, it is all you need. The rest will come
--djway
One word, WOMEN. I've never lived in a dorm (I commuted) but one thing I remember is the women and the parties. Esp at my first two years at Uni. The music was good, they dropped everything, no real trance (except my third year the dj there loved trance and dropped some PvD, rank 1 etc). Mostly it was some top 40 (blah), hip hop (blaH), drum and bass which was awesome! The women the majority of the time was 90% wowz!!

whiskers you know I don't mean this in a way to offend you but one KEY thing you're gonna have to learn when going to school is managing your money holding a tight budget and not being stupid about it

i know santa cruz got ranked relatively high as a party school. But everybody i know that goes there tells me its a lie. But i'll give you guys props on the weed smoking dept. holy!
yo whiskers....
here's some advice
if you don't have a car... make friends with somebody who has one. Try everything at least once.
big one with school work... (my dumbass learned the hard way)
If you fall behind, catch up as soon as you can... b/c if you get to far... you will never catch up. Remember F's will show up on a transcript even if you retake it and pass. Employers dont like that.....
parties suck... they are full of ppl who just learn to drink and whose only aim is to get drunk... and music? hip-hop all the time

do you happen to go to UCSB?
def dont sleep through all your classes! i did that one semester freshman year and my grades showed for it...
go to class, try to sit in the first few rows so the professor recognizes you and will eventually appreciate your sucking up. heh...
also, try and meet as many people as possible. some people get stuck in the idea that the people you live with have to be your only friends- so be real friendly to people in class, at parties...etc
other than that, good luck!!
make sure you do your homework and studying before partying and drugs, it is really tough trying to do hw while fukced up, and you get bad grades too, just make it school number 1, and fun number 2
make sure you have fun....
oh ya and drugs/alcohol.....lots of it, take advantage
ummm, other than that, show up to class as much as possible
FFS!
amherst?!
WHAT A NERD!
well i myself im off to college this fall. either NYU or Tufts. ffs.
survival tips? theres only one simple motto that says it all
PLAY HARD AND WORK HARD. thats def my goal.
you see you cant get away with too much partying cause you shoulda done that in high school.
dood honestly i care a lot about my education.
here's what im planning to do in college -->
1. time management
2. sex managament
3. money management
4. body management (healthwise i think its super important)
start building up your alcohol tolerance... nnnnnow!
Pretty much what everyone said...
College is where u growup if u dont have self control u'll be in trouble, cause no one is goin to tell u what to do. if u want to party and miss class u'll flunkout real quick.
but its a good time to figure out who u really are and what u want to do with ur life. pretty heady stuff huh!
Watch your budget if you don't have a lot of cash. Having to eat 99cent soup for 3 days in a row is NOT FUN. True, you can't go out and upgrade your celly for a bit but trust me, it's worth it.
NO HUNGER!

Yeah just be carefull not to get too carried away with drinking, partying, drugs, etc. A lot of first year uni students are always under the misconception that uni is all about meeting ppl, partying and fun. Unfortunately this only half or less of the story.
It is way more tougher than school due to the fact that there is a heavier workload and you really have to know how to manage your finance and time in order to keep up with the work.
Anywayz all I can say is 'Good luck, you'll need it !'
