Ottawa Scene, help!
so i just recently moved to Ottawa, i'm 20 so i'm legal, where can i go, what can i do? i mean just when i've got a night off, if i have a weekend then its obviously a skip, hop and a jump to Mtl to Aria, but how about locally?
nice places to go chill, i've heard Mercury Lounge?
anywhere to go dance? trance, hard trance, house...
i don't want to spend my summer sitting in my basement and going for coffee at timmy's
need help!!
man you're screwed
just turn off the lights in your room, turn the strobes on and put some live sets or some streams if your lucky enough to have high speed internet
Hey, welcome to our city
few places to go, obviously SURFACE is #1 on the list, as it is the best after hours club in Ottawa. they bring in good international djs couple of times a month names like Sander, Junior vascques, 00 Flemming, Max Graham etc.
some mainstream/hip hop clubs:
Club Vibe - in the market, its brand new (where club pyramid was), never been there actually, i read that they have some trance/house/techno nights
Club space - market, china white buidling, regular nights are awfull, the dj is horrid honestly he cant mix
.. but u can check out the CYCLE TOUR or whaver its called with Satoshie Tomie later this month... i think there is a thread on this forum about it. one thing about htis club.. very HOT LADIES
Suite 34 - Market, classly place, older mid 20s crowd, good djs, decent house tunage at times, when it gets busy they play mainstream hiphop. nice decor, a bit pricy
and ofcourse mercury lounge, which can get expensive , but it has a good vibe and nice tunes
Rest (market): Dome - Teeny boppers , cheap drinks .. havent been there since i was 17 :P
Club Iguana - has some cheap drink nights, black/hispanic crowd
On tap/Minglewoods/Cabin - mostly "pub" type atmooshpere, nice looking ladies, atmosphere sucks in these bars (for me that is).. awfull mainstream/95 hiphop tunes.
Elgin ST: bit more mature crowd.
some bars: Griffins, bulldog, the senate (heard its bad), Maxwells (cougar central)
Thats about it,
check out http://techno.xvi.com , it has event lsitigns for the ottawa area.
Have fun in our "quiet" city, hehehe most of my partying in the summer will occur in montreal actually, as Aria is luring me in with its summer lineups
anyone feel free to correct me as my points could be wrong!
cheers,
If new to the Ottawa scene...the site you really need to be on is WWW.XVI.COM
great listing of like everything that is going on in this city...so many parties that we people here on the TA forum dont even hear about...something going on every night of the week....so check it out
...or just move to Montreal
yeah, not looking for hip hop, or even anything trendy
at the price of drinks in ottawa, i want to go out somewhere that's quality, thanks for that site
parties everynight in ottawa, that's hard to believe, this town seems to shut down at 6 everyday
i registered on that XVI site back in 99 but never really went on too much.. then i met my ex-GF about a year and a half ago when she moved to TO from Ottawa and she was all over that site ..
it was funny cuz when i went there with her 2 Xmas' ago like literally everyone we met was on that site .. heh it's like Ottawa's little own TA ..
xvi, little ? it has over 10,000 users.. and the forums are much busier then here..
anyways.. if you want to check out surface, e-mail me for guest list.
XVI is a very busy MB. Alot of bad attitudes, complaining and an overall bad vibe there though. That's what i have witnessed anyways.

XVI is a very very busy forum with too much chatting going on. Threads can go 20 pages long in one night or so... its crazy and stupid at the same time. The funniest threads I ever read anywhere are in the sex and relationship forum.
Also, people have a fucking attitude problem there, everyone thinks he's the center of the universe or so hehehe

its a pretty nice logo actually.
Plus some ppl on XVI do have attitude problems. ALot of them are cool though. just still to the Events listing and you'll be fine. As for Xvi being more active then this forum. If you still to just the montreal sections then maybe yus, but also ppl come on here for smart convversations for the most part. XVI is spam central
