Best Aussie Produced Cd Ever....

look in your local sanity stores, should find a CD titled something like "La Breed Cloud Nine" or something like that...It made me buy a CD for the first time in like 5-6 years. Mixed by an aussie DJ (or "virtual" aussie DJ)

Some of the tracklists...

Solarstone feat. Elisabeth Fields - Speak in Sympathy
Solarstone - Solarcoaster (Midway)
Sun Decade - I'm Alone
Sonorous - Protonic
Darren Tate - Let the light shine in
Human Evolution - Project Magneta
and so on...............................

Posted by -=M=- on May-14-2003 05:23:

sounds like it was produced better than i was

I think you mean Lagered Cloud 9 by Sample Gee... hes a kiwi (but we wont hold that against him)!!!

So the CD is good??? Id heard it was pretty classy but i havent given it a listen myself yet.....

mmmmm! they are some awesome tunes- I'm Alone, and Project Magneta!

Unfortunately the only aussie produced cd I've heard (as far as I remember) is some cheap shite from the WILD series.
oh dear, how depressing...

I've been told the Balance compilation series is quite good. Although a lack of funds has prevented me from buying any of the compilations thus far (damnit).
Anyway, they look very nice from the tracklistings! harhah..

Balance 004 mixed by Phil K was the most recent (I think... Ive seen it out for awhile now)
it has tunes from Luke Chable, PQM, Sean Cusick..and one of my favourites is on there as well, Lo Step ft Lior Attar The Roots

Posted by Pointy on May-14-2003 08:32:

Yea the Balance series are sweet. Skitz mixes have an element of 'pep to ur step' to its sound. Infusions 'Sleeping With The Enemy' is pretty wicked as well.

Yeah Sample Gee does some damn good stuff .. seen him play live a couple of times and he's rocked my world

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on May-14-2003 12:41:

Yeah sample gee played at SanTrancisco, and opened with Airwave 2003

he played some great stuff, and there's a possibility of him playing for 5am sometime soon... so keep your ears peeled and your eyes listenin. No promises though, but possiblities

There are many superb aussie produced CD's out there!!!

For electronica you cant look past Endorphoin (for pure production bliss) or SONICanimation (for pure fun)

in mix CD's - i personally find anything mixed by Mark Dynamix is always of top quality (such as full frequency and peaktime 1&2), The peewee ferris.com digital domination CD isnt bad (well it should be after all hes getting sued over it!! ).

For trance its true theres not much out there but youve just got a look around and im sure you'll find something somewhere!!

twats!

it's called "Lagered - Cloud Nine" and it is mixed seamlessly by an ex-NZ DJ now living in OZ called Sample Gee.

Err I believe i have a few ANTHONY PAPPA CDs who is from OZ originally, including "best of PLATYPUS records" which was an awesome cd. Pity they are quite old but still some killer tracks there and awesome mixing.

Also I believe Anthony Pappa is one half of freefall who produced the awesome track "skydive" feat Jan Johnston.. dont we all love that track.

Freefall equals Pappa + Gilbey (Gilbey + his missus = Mara).

If we're talking Pappa then we've gotta go Resolutions or the one he mixed for Choo Choo Records a couple of years back. Otherwise I'm going for Kasey's Balance 002 (they're all good though), the ZT 'No Nonsense' album, or Strictly Techno 4 by PeeWee Ferris (back in 96 when he didn't have a shit taste in music).

hello sample gee!
i got 'elevation' last year, think its pretty good and im looking forward to getting 'cloud 9' soon too!

i was just wondering about 'cream trance anthems', i think you mixed the cd and you said you put it out too. did you compile the tracklisting? or was it like the last few ministry of sound trance nation cds, they made ferry corsten put some songs on too that he wouldn't necessarily include. because you can tell comparing that tracklist to the cloud 9 one there are a couple of tracks that wouldn't fit, and one could suspect they are included on the grounds that people would have heard of them on the radio and might buy the cd because of that. (ie commercial cheese hehehe )
your thoughts? if you made any sense of what i just wrote...

Posted by SampleGee on May-28-2003 02:26:

I understand what you mean completely.

The difference between the albums (i mixed both) is that Cloud Nine is what I am about as a DJ, but Cream Anthems I just mixed for the label. There are tunes on there that I would play out and others I probably wouldn't.

The tracks on Cloud Nine are right out of my crate and the tracks on Cream are what the labels determines should be on there....I just perform the function of mixing on this one. Not to say I don't like anything on the Cream CD, otherwise I wouldn't have mixed it. It's just not what I LOVE - which is on CLoud nine.

Sample Gee OZ tour dates for CLoud Nine:

June 13th - Halcyon (ex Altitude) presents Cloud Nine @ GAS, Sydney
June 27th - Cloud Nine at Family, Brisbane
July 18th - Cloud Nine at Room 680, Melbourne

Gold Coast and Adelaide dates will be confirmed later this week
