Matrix RELOADED!

"Hello Mr. Anderson"

Finally the day has come... and I have tickets...

Anyone seen it yet..
Review to follow tomorrow morning..

And guys, don't ruin it for everyone else by telling us what happens.

Posted by Drifter on May-16-2003 03:51:

saw it last night/this morning at midnight....my god the story line is so trippy fark....the movie had great fighting scenes, but the car chase was just mad....ehhhhh good movie

Posted by Sid on May-16-2003 05:37:

cant wait to see it going on Sunday night, nobody spoil it please !

Posted by lethal on May-16-2003 07:26:

Saw it last night and had to say i was a bit dissapointed!!! Special effects and fight scenes are amongst the best ive ever seen (even though they ripped off fight scenes from dozens of other movies - crouching tiger, hidden dragon, the legend of drunken master, etc.), but i didnt really like the ending.....

But i wont say anymore........ dont want to ruin it for anyone!!

Lethals Overall Rating - 7.5/10

Lethal's Quick Caption Review - The Matrix Reloaded is a blonde - its beautiful, its sexy, its got all the moves you want to see but its not overly fulfilling!!!

I love it.

The flick. the flicks. the whole damn concept.

animatrix was fantastic also.

fark, i gotta see it again.

Posted by AussieTrance on May-16-2003 17:46:

Well, after just returning (among other things), the movie was great, but could be a tad better - but, like the original matrix, it could take a few viewings to get used to the whole storey line etc... special effects were nothing short of awesome

Posted by Boredom on May-16-2003 23:49:

I'm prob out alone here, but i thought the film sucked... it was so cheesy! Special effects were ok (i think the trailers ruined it), but prob one of the best bits of the film was the trancey music during the tribal dance scene (now why on earth did they even bother putting in that scene???) :-)

Well, either they've gone completely mad on the plot (which was not too original either) or did they decide to do a satire??? What have they done to the Matrix???

Frankly disappointed: 1.5/5

i'd like to quote a very wise man in saying "people who are bored are boring people"

if you were impressed by the dance scene and not by the movie then i really do pity you

youre just lucky i only woke up a while ago coz otherwise i'd have to write a novel dedicated to flaming that 1 post

Hmmm, hardcore matrix fan?

I thought the original was a classic, setting new standards in film making. I guess it was too much to expect any more from the second film which is afterall a sequel (although some sequels are better). I just don't think Reloaded went anywhere... except that i didn't expect it to ruin the first for me... dare i say it: i dont think it should'f been made.

+ no i wasn't impressed by that dance scene - added nothing to the movie. What i said was i liked the music. That scene like a lot of the movie was very cheesy. ???attempt at a music video??? Seemed to me the 'real' world is strangely weirder than the Matrix.

OK, i'm ready to be flamed now

Posted by lethal on May-17-2003 07:09:

My main beef with the film is that even if itsa a sequel it should still be a stand alone film!! In any series of movies, books, tv, whatever... each "episode" should be a story in itself, sure theres an overlaying story but something should happen in EACH story.... example: Lord Of The Rings - each story is fairly stand alone its not neccesary to see the first one to enjoy the second one, and you dont have to see the third one to finish the second one..... its just not how you do a series...... especially when you having a 6 month gap between releasing the flicks!!!

Thats my main beef with the film!!! Oh that and all that predeterminism crap, its such a fuckin cop out theory its not funny!!!

I await flamage!!!

i agree and disagree on the whole "stand alone" factor with sequals, as it does apply to movies such as Star Wars amongst the biggest names, however it also doesnt apply as we have seen in the CLASSIC Back to the future set which actually depends on the previous movies to tell the beginning of the storyline

Matrix was awesome, while it seemed that you know, everything apart from the start was pure action sequences, you must have failed to see the whole way that they developed the plot... i dont want to put any spoilers in this but im sure if you saw it a second time you would spot the development and twists and turns it takes, and all the hints to do with a certain "program"... i reckon that whole concept ruled, remember what you discover about the oracle?

Big "errrrrmmmmmm"

The lord of the rings was written as one novel with 3 "books" but they were meant moreso as sorta large chapters.

It is ONE story, it wasn't meant to be a series, or seperated from the whole. It is NOT 3 novels or 3 stories.

Sorry about your point but lord of the rings was probably the worst example, peter jackson and the film makers have made the FILMS relatively stand alone, because A) some idiots won't watch the entire series, B) the movie standalone would be 9 hrs or something ridiculous , and C) because of the wait in between movies.

In an idealistic world, free of budget, marketing, idiots who don't understand the context... it WOULD be an entire film.

So...err...yeah..

And you need to look at the big picture, matrix 1 was an introduction, matrix 2 gives you the low down on what the entire matrix really is and how it operates (internally), and what the survivors are like (their society blah blah), and matrix 3 will be the conclusion/resolution.

There were soo many hints in the first one that there was going to be a sequel, and that it was NOT a standalone story (it ends with neo saying it continues ("I'm not saying that this is how it's going to end, I'm saying that this is how it's goiung to begin" or something) and the 2nd one has heaappss of hints (well blatnatly obvious onez) that the story is developing (a certain evolution happening? )

I didn't think the plot was AMAAZZINNG but it beats the pants off most of the tripe going around in ACTION/SCI-FI movies recently.

But yeah, that dancing scene was fucking pointless.

Not a hardcore matrix fan, but I like to enjoy things, and go in with an open mind, I didn't expect a life changing experience, and I didn't get it, but was pleasantly suprised with a lot of the movie.

I hate people which don't look at the context, for example I rmember when godzilla came out, soooo many people dissed it saying "It was shit, it wsa just this big monster destroying the city, and stupid explosions and stuff" umm HELLO IT WAS ABOUT A FUCKING MONSTER DESTROYING THE CITY!!!!! anyone seen the original...

basically, if you don't want to see a movie about a monster destroying a city why the fuck would you go see it? You can't have expectations for something which is NOT going to happen. I don't see a chic flick expecting an in depth plot or wicked martial arts....I mean really.

I thought godzilla was allright, BECAUSE I expected a movie about a monster destroying a city.

Ffs, some people just aren't happy if things aren't want they want them to be. No-one likes change?

Free Glitter pens for anyone who actually read all that

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

I saw it yesterday & it wasn't that good, but I blame the weather. It was practically piss pouring all day & I just felt like sleeping & I felt like sleeping & didn't really get the movie.

Howerver, the fight scenes & car/motorbike chase scenes were awesome, but them Virus Twins did fuck all!

It was annoying when they were answering questions with questions.

This is one movie I'll have to watch again.

hehe, I was about to go to an open call casting session for the Matrix, and they were looking for Asians/Pacific Islanders & I reckon that's what it was for.

Posted by nixter on May-17-2003 09:11:

a bit dissapointed, not as unreal as the first but still very good. great effects. looking forward to the third one.

Also wait till after the credits at the end. There's the trailer for the third film. although you have to sit through about 10 minutes of credits and a awful banging hard rock tune.

Posted by lethal on May-17-2003 11:24:

M : i did get all the storyline twists and plots changes, and all the things leading toward the third one but too me it just wasnt a satisfying conlusion to the film. In MY opinion films like this need some sort of confilct resolution. Perfect example for me is the Lord of the rings movies (i probably should have mentioned i was talking about the film version of LOTR not the book - cause yes i know the book is 1 volume with 3 chapters, etc....) each film has its own unique story, with character development, a strong hint to the future sequel(s), and a big satisfying battle between good and evil at the end, where evil suffers a setback, and we all are left feeling happy and satisfied that the world is as it should be...... (examples destroying the first death star in star wars IV, escaping from the city in the sky in episode V, and destroying the second death star, and the emperor in episode VI...... see where im leading here?? )

Perhaps i am a bit of a sucker for the big finale battle that hollywood loves to give us, but im sorry the end of the matrix just did not leave me fullfilled. Thats my only beef with the film, it needs some cataclysmic event to end, even if it showed us the counterattack or gave us something........

Anywayz im glad you boys enjoyed it..... if everyone thought the same, itd be a very boring world..... bring on the arguing!!!!

Posted by dr me on May-17-2003 12:21:

1. wicked but pointless rave scene (as with many other scenes in the movie)

2. story was cheesy. admit it ppl, you could predict almost everything (except the warped concept of the matrix but otherwise its pretty stock-standard)

3. special effects were very good but this is to be expected nowadays

4. lethal: reloaded does not have a big resolution because it is not the end yet. my guess is that it will end with your typical goody/bady fight scene you seem to like so much. happy endings make you feel good but leave you very unsatisfied imo

5. i can't wait for my unrestricted motorbike license

OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG

are you being serious with the LOTR where they make each film a unique story and a conclusive ending??? the first one ended with the hobbits being kidnapped and frodo and sam setting off, and the second one finished with frodo and sam setting off again, its an awesome movie in all but what youre saying is that all sagas have to have a conclusive ending, well guess what, a conclusive ending isnt defined at having a major battle toward of the end and a small aftermath and cut scene afterwards, that is what you call the climax and anti climax of a film. if you wanna see good climaxes and anti-climaxes you go see movies like Terminator or any horror flick/suspense flick/thriller, movies like LOTR Matrix Back To the Future etc that usually run in sagas really depend on an inconclusive ending so that viewers will be intregued or wanting more but still feeling satisfied after the whole ordeal.... thats how LOTR Matrix and to a lesser extent Harry Potter have been produced

they make the films with extended breaks in between so that fans of the films want to know what happens next. LOTR has been really smart about this coz they have left pecisely 1 year and release it after xmas so that everyone will be on holidays and everyone will know what date it will be released.

every movie has a climax towards the end, if you dont want to get involved in a set of movies you know will be depending on a sequal then theres a simple solution:

DONT GO

if your thing is a crappy b grade movie with no original plot or storyline, dont go to one that is made out to be a masterpiece by critics expecting something you can watch without wanting to get into the storyline

i could argue all day, but i wont, im gonna go have a ciggy

[Connery] I cant remember quite how the joke ends but your mother's a whore [/Connery]

Posted by Master_Yoda on May-17-2003 12:39:

Ok, i'm gonna complain before I praise...

What was the reason behind the big dancing scene?? To make the sex scene not as bold? For a movie like the matrix, both are unnecessary and pretty much useless.

So was all that talk by the 'architect', I mean wtf? did anyone get all of it?

Fight scenes were awesome. there was a bit too much CGI Neo though, looked almost like I was watching a good quality computer generated cartoon anime like Final Fantasy for a bit.

End was... well it wasn't really an ending, I await the 3rd movie.. Spewing that I missed out on the trailer for the 3rd movie. (dammit people how was I meant to know? )

The 'Superman thing' was awesome, loved it, so was the freeway chase.

Love scenes a bit cheesey.

(This could go on, but I think it warrants another viewing before I can really understand everything)

Besides all this, (despite a little bit of boredom) it was a very entertaining movie. Well worth the money to go watch it on the big screen.

Was Reloaded just as much based around Christianity and Religion as much as the first one?

So it is true, damn!

All the more reason to go watch it again, since i wasn't into it on Friday cause of the bad weather.
