What are some defining sets?
hey i guess this goes out to all you oldschool guys i was just wondering whats some sets that are classics! i was getting some didfferant sets just now and the thought occured to me......
ie. Tiestos Innercity one i heard that made it for him or something liek that are there any other sets out there that everyone acknowledges as just some of the greatest ever or genre defining? i mean like a real CLASSIC not a set you just like at the moment what was the one set in the last decade or so that had just been incredible
hey jah do u no ur name means jehovah??the god i serve
The set that I would definte as most classic would be Paul Oakenfold back from like 98 or so, live at Gatecrasher on Radio 1's essential mix. This set is amazing...full energy...the crowd is going nuts! It is what got me listening to this amazing music we call trance.
hehe
Well although I've been listening to Trance for almost 10 years, I have only been listening to Live Sets for the past 2-3 years, but I think one that will go down in a lot of peoples books as a classic will be DJ Tiesto's mix on 31-12-1999 at Trance Energy. The tracks were so good back then, and the first time I heard Mario Lopez - The Sound Of Nature [Plug 'N' Play Remix] I absolutely loved it, then the next track was good, then the one after that and so on! Just a classic set all in all.

Paul Oakenfold's Goa Mix (12-18-1994) was almost genre-defining for trance in the 90s (not Goa Trance, though - that's totally different..lol..). Listen to it or any of his Essential Mixes from 93-98 (I think 'Bullet in the Gun' was when he officially lost it), and you'll understand why so many people are angry with the direction he's taking. He was almost legendary back in the day...
Sasha - Live @ The Eclipse (12-01-1990)
Sasha and John Digweed - Live @ Simons, Independence Night, FL (04-07-1996)
are worth checking out too...
Yea man...that Goa mix is sooo nice...I still listen to it all the time!
I agree with you, Oakey is not going in the same direction anymore...
