looks like G&D have joined the ranks of most trance producers then

Posted by LaCasta on May-17-2003 08:54:

Even if they did use the melody Gabriel and Dresden have made it better

OK if you really fucking search hard enuff you can probably find an equal for every fucking song out there omfg why do you fucking people always post shit like this, the song is nice, leave it be, i mean for all you know the melody of both songs could be based on some old classical music composition, things sound similar from time to time, does it give you pleasure to rail on music most people enjoy, I feel gabriel and dresden bring a pretty unique element to progressive trance, and im not even going to bother with listening to that other song if it sounds the same i can give a shit less, i love as the rush comes that is that, i can care less about that shit.
With so many producers songs are going to sound similar, And then they start to dance sounds exactly the same as the prophet, kid vicuous used the bass line he developed for urban train in other material, yadda yadda yadda, it happens.

Agree, just as an example, Solar Stone - Seven Cities and Chicane - Halcyon are pretty similar, but i like Halcyon way better, and i don't care if they sound the same, Chicane is better.
The same goes in this matter

Double standards strike again.

Posted by capricorn15 on May-17-2003 13:07:

do you think it was on purpose?

Posted by allstar on May-17-2003 13:10:

When I produce, I often find I create melodies that are similar to others. Now I don't do this intentionally, but my point is it's not as hard as you might think.

Yes, but it seems like when someone else does a melody similar to some other tune they get hanged from their balls, but if the same thing is done by a band/artist that's "in" at TA it's a cool tribute.

Posted by j_spot on May-17-2003 13:32:

now since I dont have that particular single, they might not have 'ripped them off'
ever think that they may have sampled the song? given credit, saying we used their stuff. It happens alot you know...

just a possibility.

* hands DJDigDug a box of tissues

I honestly don't understand why "you fucking people" get so offended.
All im saying is that this track everyone raves on about sounds very very similar to another one. I posed it as a question. Im not making blatent stabs at you, G&D or anyone else. Why don't you just fucking sue me.

Posted by tu_face on May-17-2003 17:57:

i havent listened to the other tune that its supposed to have ripped off but i will say this.. just because an artist does something that is similar to another track, doesnt mean that he/she did it on purpose.. i mean theres the obvious ones like scooter, and there are many others that have done it blatently in the past, but on the other hand theres examples like armin - shamu and push - strange world.. and that was not intentional (mike commented himself on the forums on his website)..

As Bart Simpson would say at a time like this....HELL! DAMN! FART! HELL! DAMN! FART!

Posted by starglider on May-17-2003 18:36:

Breaking news:

Two or more producers can independently come up with similar or even identical melodies. This is not uncommon.

Having said that, I do consider it interesting to find songs related in this way. There are better ways to bring one's attention to this, however, than "X ripped off Y!".

Posted by [mart] on May-17-2003 20:36:

Some of you really need to grow up!

Stop reading so much into this coincidence, stop flaming each other, stop fucking swearing every other fucking word bollocks, and CHILL.

So, anyone else noticed the recent surge of Sister Bliss - Sister Sister rip-offs?
