Whats a good analogy for DJing?

I was listening to the TV, and this guy was comparing stand up comedy to surfing a wave. The crowd is a wave, and while it looks like the surfer is in control, its really the wave that has all the power. This got me thinking about DJs, and what they do. They aren't making people happy, excited or dancy, they are only picking up on a vibe. A good DJ can read a crowd, and predict what the crowd will like, but he is never in control. He can only manipulate the mood, he doesn't create it.

Or maybe I'm blasted out of my mind. What do you think?

Watching pvd or tiesto perform live does not make you happy?

djing is like feeding pigeons in the park, or perhaps ducks. very rewarding.

Not if I don't want him to. I let tiesto guide my emotions, but at no point is he in control, he is merely directing them. Does that make sense?

Djing, is a lot like.. well, playing other peoples records.

there is an art to it as well, i guess it could be compared to being a choreographer, or even a director of a movie. you don't get to DO the art, you just get to arrange it.

I think this is a perfect analogy, cuz if youre a trance DJ and they want rap on its like getting your head shat upon haha. this was great
