Paul van Dyk to play in Central Park, NYC!

This is huge !!

TRANCE.NU -- Just in: German Mixmaster Paul van Dyk will play an open air concert for 4 hours in Central Park, the heart of New York City...Read On!

Written by: Daniela Busciglio, aka LuNaSeA
Global superstar DJ, producer and original artist Paul van Dyk will perform the grande finale show on Central Parks SummerStage on Thursday, August 28th at 6:00PM. Central Park SummerStage runs from June 14th through August 28th. Joining a diverse lineup of musical, dance, spoken word and visual artists -- including Elvis Costello, Timmy Regisford, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Rufus Wainwright, Chaka Khan, Sonny Rollins, Indigo Girls and many others -- Paul van Dyk will help New Yorks Central Park celebrate its 150th Anniversary this Summer as part of a diverse, multi-cultural roster of performing artists gathered to celebrate the global diversity that thrives in New York.

Arguably one of the worlds most accomplished and revered electronic music DJs, producers and composers, Paul van Dyk will play an unparalleled four-hour live DJ set in New Yorks historic Central Park to an all-ages audience. Standing strong in the face of the recently-passed RAVE Act, PVD is expected to play hit tracks from his current Global album (Mute), in addition to a signature array of other Vandit releases. Paul van Dyks highly-anticipated fourth artist album, Reflections (Mute), will be released in the U.S. in September, just days after his Central Park SummerStage show.

Audiences can expect to hear the first hit dancefloor single from Reflections, Paul van Dyks Nothing But You, during PvDs set. Always on the cutting edge of club culture and a tireless ambassador for quality electronic dance music, Paul van Dyk hopes that the show will expose this genre of music to a wider audience by taking it out of the darkened nightclubs for one night, and releasing the magic under a summer canopy of stars.

Nope, tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the gate I guess. www.ticketweb.com

I smell cash grab

does the math

= TOO MUCH! MONEY TO MAKE

I still sincerly doubt this thing will go ahead because of the noise restrictions in central park and I think it will be a tremendous roadblock.

Posted by Freeza on May-18-2003 04:16:

Yea that's a lot of money to be made there. I heard it's saposed to be a benafit thing, but I dunno what for. Anyways, that's why I'm not gonna get advanced tickets because of the noise thing. Well if it happends, I will be there

Benefit for whom

pvd's pocketbook or a real charity in NEW YORK!

If it happens, I'll be surprised....they are strict with the noise violations.

I do!

I didn't know about a new artist album, can't wait to get my hands on that, its been a while. Thanks for the info.

peace,

Steve

i understand that but it seems they are the only news they post. I don't see ppl posting ivibes stuff which should be done. You can wait till his artist album comes out but it's pathetic, last week I saw some dude add it to his top albums of 2003, i mean it's not out yet. Comment on it when it comes out ppl, stop overhyping things.

it's paul van dyk andy

and yes, as fans we do have a right to overhype it b/c several songs on it have already been heard

-> nothing but you

-> okyo7/motorola

-> crush (perhaps?)

Pork, antiBitter Police

I was not being bitter, I was just expressing an opinion that was against pvd which is not common place on this board but then again, I said ppl were overhyping albums that had not been released or even released as promos. I was not saying that paul van dyk's album will be crap or anything like that, I was saying a person on this board was going overboard with his predictions. If people add it in September then that's legit but it's may and the album is not out. About the noise restrictions, I still doubt it will happen or the music will not be loud enuf.

I can't see why there'd be a problem with the noise: there's a full concert in Central Park every weekend this summer, some with quiet, pleasent jazz music, others with full-fledged rock bands such as the Hives. I don't think they'd let artists play all summer and then suddenly decide that they don't want Paul van Dyk to play because he'll make too much noise. All I know is Paul van Dyk on a warm summer evening could potentially be the event of a lifetime, and I'm certainly not gonna miss it.

Posted by melly on Jun-03-2003 21:36:

Ill only drive up if he promises to play the good (original mix) of Nothing but You instead of the awful club mix or any other remix for that matter (barring the apperance of an awesome remix, possibly Faithless')

precisely.

Paul van Dyk - Untitled (NEC Track 4)
Paul van Dyk - Untitled [Motorola Music] (Okyo Track 7)
Paul van Dyk - Untitled (Gatecrasher Track 64)
Paul van Dyk - Untitled (Gatecrasher Track 66)
Paul van Dyk vs Second Sun - Crush
Paul van Dyk vs BT - Untitled <- i hope!
Paul van Dyk - Nothing But You (Original Mix) <- i hope again!
Paul van Dyk - Take Me Higher <- perhaps?

I think we have every right to hype this album, as shown from the above. so cut the fucking bullshit. when ur favourite artist is about to release another album we hav every rite to get excited. who cares if we overhype it. just a bit of harmless fun.

I dont have a problem with t.nu posting news, but at least post new news. The central park thread has been in the NYC Forums over a month now and PvD being part of it has been known for about that long as well. HOw do you think Daniela got all the info, its in the NY Forums if people would bother to look lol
