anyone interested in bit torrent?

im still a newbie here, so not sure where this thread should be properly be posted in. anyway back to bittorrent...

read this thread

been doing some research on how to setup/run a tracker since Tiesto_in_Concert-Live_at_Gelredome_Arnhem_(Holland)-3FM-SAT-05-11-2003-TWCLIVE got released. it would of helped so much for that release, especially for the impatient people like my self. I couldnt get a slot on EMC DC hub for awhile, ended up getting it off an ftp.

Im still working on the site itself. adding functions in the future like giving the ability to anyone to upload torrent files and also display more details on the torrent itself. at the moment if you want to add a torrent you'll have to send the torrent to me then id would have to add it manually, but anyone can serve the file(s)

Please keep the site within tranceaddict only, i dont have a super connection to serve the whole internet hopefully this will catch on, more people will serve, and get more organized (ie have several people with files already before it goes on the tracker itself)

http://tabt.h4w.net/

any questions?

Posted by cheesenip on May-18-2003 21:12:

hm.. why not just add them to the many bittorrent sites that are already available?

Posted by rizo on May-18-2003 21:41:

i dont think current trackers would want 18,000 more leechers

most trackers are for movies, warez, and pron anyway. well at least the ones ive gone too, havnt found a decent music/trance one

I think that bittorrent is the future of the p2p....

Test this .torrent---> http://flaskemafia.com/tiesto_in_co...11-2003.torrent

Y never downloaded something with this speed

Posted by Roquer on May-19-2003 22:47:

Actually, bittorrent uses distributed computing, so the the individual servers bandwidth is severely reduced. Furthermore, EVERY leecher, even the 56kers help add to the download speed a little bit. The more people who leave the window open, the faster the speeds will be. Unfortunately, most people don't leave the window open long after they finish downloading...

A web page like google to search torrents:

http://episodes-first.cjb.net/

A manual (in spanish.... )....but you can find some usefull links and the most important clients to use torrents files:

http://www.btsites.tk/

That is the page for links for bt sites. My favorites are:

http://www.torrentse.cx/
www.SuprNova.org
http://candystore.tk

with the first one, you can upload your own tracker.

Have fun.

yeah ive been using torrentse.cx for awhile now, but not enough trance/electronic music on it, same with the other trackers.

Im guessing my tracker wont get popular until i enable user uploads (working on this) and there are more 0day/new releases.

Ive added these in case anyone may want them:
BT_-_Somnambulist_(Incl_Junkie_XL_Mix)-Promo-Vinyl-2003-tronik
BT-Simply_Being__Incl_Sander_Kleinenberg_Mix-Promo-Vinyl-2003-USF
Paul_Van_Dyk_Feat._Hemmstock_And_Jennings-Nothing_But_You-SVCD-2003-GOD

torrentse.cx is meant 2 be a 'goon-only' site, they're on about taking it down cuz every1 seems to be hammering it and posting shitty comments (check out the matrix 2 thread)..

Posted by kiddiejon on May-22-2003 13:01:

torrentse.cx is actually public though.

HELLO.JPG came out of the closet to say:
torrentse.cx is a public access PHP tracker. It was coded by ExarKun634 and is very similar to roop's (until we get a new design). It's currently being hosted by NetLuxe so it's fucking fast. This is open for the ENTIRE BitTorrent community so feel free to tell anyone and everyone about it.
but yeah it may change.

i've been using BT for a while now actually, and i must say, fastest downloads i've ever had... i've had upwards of like 320kb/s before (and that's good for me). definately the future of p2p. it's already blowin up. saw it on tech tv not long ago, and was featured in a pc mag (dont remember which). im into a lot of anime also, which has brought this to it's level. if you like anime check out http://anime.mircx.com or http://www.animesuki.com btw i think suprnova.com is down for few also. but that site was nice too, got a lot of movies/apps from there. ill help seed if you get this thing up...

Posted by cheesenip on Jun-04-2003 09:51:

yea being behind a university firewall, most p2p programs are blocked (i.e. DC). However BT is not for some reason, I do not know why because changing the ports does nothing becuase my schol uses the packetshaper program. I can easily get 800kbps down. Actually by the time I finish downloading linux ISO, I had uploaded 6 gigs while the ISO itself is just under 700mb! Alas, all good things come to an end and I will not be on this connection after 2 weeks.

Posted by whiskers on Jun-04-2003 14:15:

the cool thing about BT is that no matter how many times my download cuts off, it will always auto-resume, like AG. and it also checks files for integrity to prevent corruption - AG didn't do that. two of the biggest drawbacks right now though are that with AG you could queue files while you were on some other computer and BT++ eats too much RAM (but that's only client-specific and will be fixed in the future)>

Posted by rizo on Jun-05-2003 06:38:

new tracker!!! http://h4w.net:6969/

if you click on the file name it'll display the files within the torrent, uploaders and downloaders info as well as a comment link to post any comments

give it a try, and stress it out.

Posted by zag2me on Jun-05-2003 13:13:

Cheers Rizen, keep the tracker up and running, good job on the site design too When the next big file comes along, i am sure your tracker will come in very handy.

Posted by whiskers on Jun-05-2003 15:54:

rizen, thanks for managing this tracker, man, it's really great!
