Hey Sandstorm,

I'm definitely planning on checking PvD out at Avalon in July too. My friend, prj, and I have gone to his last two nights here in Boston (last Halloween and Feb 20) and both were totally banging. Maybe if we can round up enough people on the board we could have a cool TranceAddict meeting in Avalon or something.

No matter what though, I'm sure Paul van Dyk will be just as good as ever, and even though it's two months away still, I'm putting in the prediction now: Hearing "Crush" on the flagship Avalon system will blow us all away.

So uhh, what is "crush"? Is that a new single or what? I've never heard of it...

i would LOVE to go to this show. so far none of my friends can go though and my gf is to young (still only 18)

so i dont know what im gonna do. this would be my first avalon trip too.

To be totally honest, even though Avalon is officially 19+, they're actually fairly relaxed towards letting in women who are simply around that general age. I wouldn't try to get into Avalon if you were a guy and were underage, but there's a fairly good chance that they'd let an 18 year old girl in.

Just make sure to get there right at the beginning (the past 2 times I've seen Paul van Dyk at Avalon, they've opened up an hour earlier at 9 PM). Even better would be if your girlfriend has a college ID, because the only reason Avalon is 19+ and not 18+ is to keep highschoolers out, so if they saw that she's in college, they'd almost surely let her in.

Yah, lemme know how it turns out and if you're still planning on going; I'm definitely trying to get a TA meeting in Avalon.

Also, Porky and Starfox, you guys were there in February right? Are you guys planning on coming up again?

Definately looking forward to this. I'm only 16 but I have a 19 Temporary Drivers License especially for the purpose...I don't look THAT young, and I'm going with a 25 year old. Also, a friend of a friend knows a bouncer who said he'd be willing to let in high schoolers so I think I'm pretty set. If theres a meeting planned then I'd definately wanna take advantage of that.

Damn, couldn't this be during schooltime, when I'm actually up there? Well, at least I'm gonna get to see him at the park in August

Me too! Does anyone know a bouncer or someone who works at Avalon? Might make things a little easier as I hear most clubs don't take temporary licenses...

what do they check for an ID at Avalon??? A drivers license? Do they check college ID's?

They only accept Picture ID's with your birthdate/age on them. I know this because last Halloween I tried to get my 18 year old friend, Nick, in using his college ID ( which didn't have his age on it ) and they wouldn't accept it. On the bright side, however, when the bouncer asked Nick his age and he honestly replied "18", the bouncer let him in!

Bottom line, bring a driver's liscence if you're the proper age (19+), or try to get there really early and be nice and honest if you wanna stand a good chance of getting in under age.

How early do you think?

I would try to be in line before the club opens if you want to get there early. When I went to see PvD last Halloween with my underaged friend, Avalon was opening an hour early (9 PM) and we got in line at around 8:45. We were about 5th or 6th in line. While I don't think getting there this early guarantees that someone underage will get in, I'm pretty sure that if you show up at 11 PM when the line runs all the way down the block to Jillian's, there's a guarantee that someone underage won't get in.

Another trick is bringing a girl/being a girl. If you're a well-dressed girl, there's a really good chance to get in if you're 18 or even 17. If you're an underage guy and bring a well dressed girl, there's a decent chance that the two of you will get in, but again, no promises there.

I would definately be down to meet some fellow tranceaddicts. I have not been in the forums long, but is always nice to meet new people who have the same passion for Trance music.

edit: i have a 19 year old friend whos probably going to go to this, my gf is also 19 so if she went too would it help? also i have a college id. how good of a chance do you think i have of getting in 2 months underage if i show up like that?
