Need Some Help with my Broadband Connection. ?

Ok I am having problems sending files through MSN Messenger and IRC , I have tried all the IRC Clients and still will not send a bean , I can recieve files but i cannot send. this is wierd tho because netmeeting lets me send files through. I can also FTP Files and upload on DC , whats going on ??? Ive check everything in both clients i have no proxy server / wingates or anything like that setup , im using BT Home 500 DSL and im getting very pissed off. any help would be grateful.

are you using windows xp? if so its the totaly useless microsoft firewall what reduces the functionability of microsoft software (i.e msn messenger) go figure.....

theres a thread in the FAQ forum titled "removing shared internet conection" theres soem advice in there what will help you out

yeah im on XP Pro , it has a firewall ? ill look into it, thanks.

To check if Windows XP's built-in firewall feature is enabled, open up Network Connections, right-click your connection and I believe the option is located on the right-most tab.

I hope that this has the desired effect.

Oh yes, the XP's dreaded "firewall".
The only thing it ever does is mess everything up.

I am having the exact same problem using windows xp and i have checked xp firewall is off, and i use norton firewall but disable it if I am going to send or receive a file, am using netgear dg824 dsl router, cannot see any options in msn messenger for tweaking that will help
can receive files ok just not send them

I am at a loss at the mo any help appreciated guys

some routers have built in firewalls sometimes, although as ive never used one i havnt a clue how to controll what ports etc are bloked

The netgear one doesn't it comes with seperate software but i didn't install it, thanks anyway
