Wink MoT [Icone remix] -> updated!

Hey peepz,

I've updated the remix with the kind feedback I got. I don't know if these changes are that major, but the elements that were changed are for example the lowering of the bass level a little bit and turn up the volume on the vocals a bit more. The piano also has a clearer sound now. Consider this to be the final mix of the track

this track is HUGE!! seriously, this has got to be one of the best tracks i have heared on this forum! the break is absolutely mesmerising, strings and vocals seem glued together.. brilliant main melody as well, seems like i'll have to edit my post in the best amateur melody thread.. my only critisism is that the bassline is a bit too loud. i love its sound, but especially during the build-up it interferes with the other sounds, which is not that pretty.. but apart from that, a stunning job!!

Great remix, much better than the original.
all i can complain about is the bassline. just think you picked the wrong sample or something, 'cus it doesn't sound to good when the bassline changes, get to bright. hard to explain

Very nice track Wim, I am once again impressed!

The overall production quality of the track is excellent.

I can see where the bassline criticisms are coming from. It does sound a little abrupt with the bassline changes, which happens when you have a higher note to keep it in tune. Hard to overcome, but in my opinion it sounds not too bad.

The breakdown is gorgeous, especially the strings. The piano kinda sounds outta place at times though. I suggest you kill it at the point when that great main lead kicks in. I personally think it interferes with it!

Overall, top notch track, as said previously one of the best posted here!

Thx for the kind comments

So the bassline should be less compressed perhaps? I could take another sample or softsynth, see what effect it has. Maybe a softsynth can generate more fluid basslines. Though, I've experimented with some in the past and I find basslines coming from softsynths lacking in depth to be honest... Though I kind of like it this way with a sample (my own opinion)

Cheers & thx again!

hey mate,

nice remix u did there
luvly driving bassline and i have 2 agree with everyone here that the vocal+strings rock, and the bassline is huge
also the main synth is very nice!
i don`t think the bass is 2 hard or whatever, its just fine this way imo

grtz,

mantis

Beautiful man, really nice work.

I agree with tor8024, this is one of the best sounding tracks on this forum!

The piano really puts the icing on the cake for me

Posted by Icone on May-23-2003 08:41:

thx mikefassy & hdb

shall i keep the bass then? well, for now then maybe, unless MoT wants to do something with the remix and thinks it's necessary. i'll see what comes up

Listened to the full thing now, awesome stuff

I'll talk to a few people, there SHOULD be somewhere that allows 192's. Indielaunch used to, but they went down recently....ill see what i can find lol :P

Big Ears Don't change a thing

At first I was going to suggest that the vocals be turned up a little before the breakdown, but the more I listened to it I decided it was good the way it was, the bass is fine, it's original, it doesn't cut out when you expect it and I like that. Keep up the originality.

Hey thx for the kind replies

I found http://www.dance-industries.com to be allowing 192 kbps files, but only original work, so no remixes of any kind.

hey, im listening right now its very good but i am gonna point out some stuff i think could make it even better.

production wise most everything is alright except that the bassline is too loud (at least listening in akg 240s headphones tells me so).

the piano sample could be a good bit better (play around with some other piano samples and i think you will see. also maybe add a bit more reverb to the piano).

at 4:01, 5:56, 8:30 the pitch of that one shot reversed sample is off, all you would have to do is change the pitch of the sample to match the song.

The vocal could be turned up just a tiny bit.

music wise it is really nice. i know i said a few criticisms, but once again this is very good and im just trying to help, and i think you are improving from previous productions i have heard.

.

i think the song is great.. but the bassline does need a bit more work but i mean if u fix the bassline a bit then the song would be perfect.. the bassline seems to be kinda too mumble but thats not the main problem. the main problem is when it changes key it seem to loses all its strength as in somethin was taken out of the song in that period of time~ felt like something was lost :P

well just wut i felt u dont haf to listen hah
but good song .. since u always make good tracks! :P

Re: .

thx for further comments

i'll have a try and remake it this evening if i have some time and implement those ideas.

cheers,
LW
