Sounds mike used in the new push remix.
is it me or has he really devovled his sounds, like when you hear the bassline doesnt it just sound way to basic, and the main lead too, the synth on it seems very basic too.
also some of the effects r recycled from live another life.
that coupled with the semi recycling of the legacy melody, i think mike is getting more lazy, even though he still comes out with great tunes (love angel, live another life) at the same time, i find this wierd.
i also felt this way about his back to cali remix when it came out, yet only a little while later he made tranceformation which is great!
was wondering if anyone else noticed this?
i think it all depends on the time he has available.. when he has to do a remix on a very short notice, i think it's only normal.. same goes for tiesto, for instance.. you often see him produce mediocre tracks and remixes, but then all of a sudden he comes up with a stormer.. i don't think it's because the producer's lazy, i think it has a lot to do with the deadline..
btw, you must admit it's a great track for having used rather basic sounds..

you got to remember that artists dont make any publishing or royalties from a remix on someone elses tune. its just a flat fee. why should a producer put his best sounds into a remix when he could save them for his original work. instead he may just use melodies or sounds that have defined that production name in the past and combine them with the original he's remixing. and as theres no where near as much money in remixes these days i think something like the nrc remix is great value...
I dont know...I know they're all rehashed sounds, and he's definitely used them before, but I actually like the track. The synth and notes of the main melody are reminiscent of The Legacy, but I dont mind that much. About the bassline - it is a bit basic I definitely agree with that, but again thats probably due to deadlines and stuff like that.
Overall Im a fan of the tune though.
I've never been a Push fan, and its mainly because of his basslines, they do sound really basic and uninspiring.

THANK YOU!!!!
i've always been critical of mike's work simply for this fact...i mean he has good melodies, but the sounds just aren't up to par. i think he needs to spend more time on songs or make some new sounds because that's what turned me off from most of his productions (or course i still like the big one;s aka univeral nation, strange world etc)
demons...
how about putting your best effort into a tune because you have a reputation as an artist. that would be my biggest concern not making a crap remix just because i'm not making as much...you might aswell not do the remix and keep working in the studio. i know producers don't have much time for remixes but i don't think they do a shit job on purpose because they want to keep there sounds...
Get him in the studio with Oliver Lieb.

A lot of producers use the same sounds over and over.
Armin, PvD, Mirco de Govia, Ronski Speed, Max Graham, even BT and Sasha.
All of them are great producers, IMO, but they can't reinvent their style with every track. Deadlines are indeed a major factor in the quality of production. If you hear a remix by an excellent producer that sounds basic and formulaic, they probably didn't have enough time to decently produce it, or didn't have the desire. MIKE still uses old sounds I guess, but they still get the job done for me at least.

im sure he'd rather be the one making 50,000 from his best ideas. this is his lively hood, work in the dance industry at the moment is tight and if you are offered a remix of a good tune (one you like) youre inclined to accept it. as long as its produced to a fair standard (and lets face it mikes 'fair' standard is still pretty high)then whats the problem? most of the push remixes i have heard have appealed in one way or another to a good number of people so therefore, job done! i certainly dont find them too generic...most have at least something original to offer anyway.
MIKE is waay overrated imo.. his music is like "Hmm, yeah? And?"
Not exiting at all..

I don't know what the heck you guys are talking about with his basslines.
He has one of the most unique basslines / hi hat combos among the lot of producers.
It's very atmospheric and hoovering and airy and deep with really nice bounce. Listen to it closely in your headphones or in a good sound system.
This debate will never be resolved. Here's why...
The people on this site who know their gear and the horizons possible in music will immediately see that Plastic Boy "Silver Bath" is very immature. Aside from a good melody, it is does not push music forward in any way.
Those who have never touched a JP-8000 and have no idea what a TR-909 looks like will obviously like "Silver Bath" because it has a melody that sounds good to the ear.
SUMMARY: These two groups of people are using TOTALLY different criteria to evaluate music. The former judge by complexity, the latter judge by emotional response. Therefore, the debate will never be resolved.
