Soundproofing...
Hey guys,
I know that there is soundproofing spray that you can buy but I am looking for that bumpy, foamy stuff that you see in studios. I have no idea where to find it. Do you guys know where I could find it or know of any other soundproofing ideas?
Thnks in advance!

not sure if it is the exact same stuff but they have sound deadening sprays at places tha install car stereos. try best buy or one of those types of places.

my friend used those egg carton matress pads and said they work pretty well. it will look ghetto but its a whole lot cheaper : )
Ive been looking into that myself, for when I purchase a new condo, Im planning to setup a home studio in one of the rooms. Ive visited a few sites myself, and noticed that it can be quiet expensive, depending on the quality of the foam, patterns it comes in, and the manufacture, and also the grade (thickness).

You have the internet at your fingertips... very powerful tool, just use search engines.
Thanks guys, do these things make a big difference? (Foams and sprays?)
they do but i dont think you have to go overboard and like plaster your walls ro antyhing..depends on what youre using it for. studios use them for a reason ; )
for a cheaper alternative
egg cartons on the walls and ceiling
then hang heavy curtains over the walls (kinda like the density of velvet)
then just get a nice thick carpet for the floor and you'll have an almost sonically dead room
it works just as well (if not better) than the expensive soundproofing foam
the problem with just putting eggcartons on your walls is its a huge safety hazard
i was going to do it in my basement but my dad opted against it because of the safety hazard...especially since you're going to have tons of electrical equipment in the room
my sisters boyfriend brought me some stuff from his work
its sound proofing that looks like the shape of how an eggcarton would, buts its this grey foam...i haven't tried it out yet though
you can also buy sound proof insoluation (the pink stuff in your walls)
we have it in my basement and you can hardly hear a peep upstairs...the only thing you hear is leaked out of the doors leading to the stairs
one thing that you'll have to realize though is that bass travels
most of the time its not the treble that's disturbing people, its the thudding and rumbling of the bass (we have the same problem at my house, the bass from the sub travels all through the walls)
im not sure how to evade this though...i think if you have speaker stands it'll take away a lot of the vibrations
I was in a music store about a week ago looking for soundproofing, and the guy told me it would cost like $40 a sqaure foot!!! I said fuck that, I dont care THAT much if the nieghbors dont sleep!
i bought soundproof boards at home depot. i used them to make a dividing wall in my basement. they are made of this weird type of material. the color of the boards is light gray. oh and they were pretty cheap.
