i always notice how some people manage to get such good quality pictures at raves/night clubs, what's your secret?!

i own a canon s400 digi cam, i dont understand why i wasnt able to get good quality pics when i went to see johan gielen on sunday, all the pics were weird with the lazers and other lighting at the event...
i used a flash on the first few pics i took, then i took it off and i noticed that i got better pics without the flash... but there's something else on my camera... ISO? i can set it at 100-200-300-or-400, which one is best? i used AUTO... but, i did use a flash for a few of the pics that i took, when i was close to gielen... im pretty clueless on what i should do to get good pics, im sure its me, not my cam!

any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

hehe ok i'll answer ya

best advice is to sit in front of your place at night and play with all the options your camera offers... and see whats the combo for you camera

but on a more serious note:

1- don't use the flash
2- put the highest ISO setting
3- and hold the camera still, put it somewhere solid in the worst case scenario.

thats the easiest you can do.

but the best pictures will come with long exposition modes, that is keeping the camera lense open for a couple seconds, or more and _HOLDING THE CAMERA STILL_ better don't hold it, put it somewhere...

taking pictures in low light conditions is a bitch, and if your camera is cheap, it will be harder

I 'borrowed' a camera from a store for a weekend, and my photos VASTLY improved. I didnt change anything, I shot the same, but the pictures are so much clearer. The damn flash is blinding, and managed to get quality photos from 8-10 feet away(unheard of!)
