My Radeon 8500 = help
Ok, why does it say its PCI?

anyone know why it says this?I woudln't be worried if it ran properly, but its running like shit, and it shouldn't.
help.
you did put it in the AGP slot in your motherboard right???
Try installing the latest drivers which can be found here: Click Me for Drivers
yes i put it in the right spot, cause agp cards are keyed anyways...
i downloaded the newest drivers, cause i know ati never ships decent drivers (i used to work there)
;/ blah
BTG, that is normal. They are always reported as being on PCI as far as I know. That exact same window on my various Raddies...
What problems are you encountering?
Well ATI does give you 30 days of free phone troubleshooting, perhaps you could call them?
The number for US customers is: 900-733-2841
Canada: 905-882-2626
*edit* its only 30 days after purchase though. =\
Well, in the matrix game: Random objects turn invisable (i.e. guns, random places on peoples faces, blocks, walls)
Counter-strike doesn't run any faster than it did when i had a first generation radeon card (pre 7500), and now it has little black lines here and there...going horizontal accross the screen.
Why. i dunno.

It allways says PCI Bus. I could expalain why but it would require a large discussion on computer arictecture which is not really nessicary. Trust me the card is fine It should look like that.
For a Little evidence I have this to show you.

on the left is a Pci card see the bus number, on the right an agp card.
Ok, I can think of two other things.
What are your current system specs? Simply upgrading the GFX card may not improve much, as RAM and processor speed may in fact act as limiting factors to overall performance.
Secondly, power usage. Now that you have a more powerful card you may have pushed your required power levels past the maximum. Do you know what wattage your PSU is? If you have alot of components and a decent processor, 350W is the minimum you should be looking that.
Other than that, a defect card?
I have:
P4 1.5 GHz,
380MB Ram (SD
)
don't know my wattage..but i coudln't imagin it makes THAT much of a difference.
did you do fps_max 99 ?

If you have that rig and your not getting a constant 99 in CS then youve got some serious problems. Try this: Download the latest card drivers, uninstall the card (the drivers, do this in device manager). Boot to vga, install the latest drivers, restart, and then try it. Dont install the factory drivers, theyre useless. If you get 99 when you look at a wall it almost sounds like a ram issue, either on your card or your physical ram. You said you have 384 ram, so you probably have 1 stick of 256 and 1 stick of 128, right? Make sure the 256 stick is in slot one (usually the slot closest to the CPU).
Other than that you might just have a bunk card...
