Sweetnezz...

Who needs Carl Cox when the Godfather of techno is in town...

Posted by malek on May-23-2003 20:29:

ah you fucking bastards, armand van helden... thats one DJ I want to hear but was too damn expensive for Aria, he doesn't have a big following over here to cover up his costs

if i can do it, I'll come for that one. AVH is off the hook.

It's GANDHI KAHN!

"Trance sucks in case you need an update - it's white - too white - republican Nazi white!"

Bahahaha... I'm way more excited about this than I let on in the first post... hehehe.

forigve me, but what are you talking about? I mean this is strictly all house event, where is the godfather of techno that you are talking about?

ARMAND!!

I think he's more old-school techno than house, but there's no reason to argue about genre, it'll be a freakin' awesome show!

Posted by malek on May-23-2003 21:17:

i guess my post disapeared...

i was saying that AVH describes his genre as speed garage, which falls into the house super-genre.

but then again, last summer he played an awesome banging tech-house set almost becoming techno... he rocked my night!

also, i'll have to find that signature with "trance sux" i have somewhere

Posted by DigiNut on May-23-2003 21:45:

Bah.. yeah, you're right Malek.

I guess I connect him with techno because he was one of the first DJs I ever listened to... back in the uber old sk00l days when I thought all electronic music was techno.

Anyway, who's in?

Posted by Wurm on May-23-2003 21:49:

Worm Popper

If I am at this, it's at Skybar all night.

Posted by Kytracid on May-23-2003 22:58:

This one should be good for all those into House. Haven't seen bad boy bill live, but his bangin the box series is quite popular, and i hear he's crazy live. Mixing and scratching records like no tommorow...

Godfather of techno? Tsk tsk tsk... I'd take Carl Cox over all 3 of those together anytime of the day!

Count me out of this one... (waiting for Cox to come back)

Yeah, yeah, my mistake. Pssh, not like I'd ever find you anyway, and if I did you'd probably tell me I got the wrong guy.

But my comment wasn't intended to be a comparison - personally I don't think you can really compare the two. I'll surely be there for Carl Cox as well, whenever he does come - I was merely saying that my turntablist needs were satisfied for the time being.

The funny thing is, he has no following over here either...

And yet Oakenfold gets off scot free...

I don't see anything wrong with rock or hip hop remixes as long as they don't dominate the set... everyone goes nuts to Clocks and that's basically a rock tune. And I remember people chatting up a storm on TA about some Fiddy Cent remix. Anyway, following or no following makes zero difference to me. That's not the reason I go to events! 'sides, there are some people around who still remember and respect the old school!

well that fuckin sucks that cox got cancelled.. i might go to this.. but now that cox cancelled i may have to go to wasaga instead

Though the subject says Kool Haus, unfortunately they've thrown BBB, AVH, King Sunshine and Mark Oliver in the Guvt. LLV is in the Drink, Theory (D&B) in the Orange Room, Luke Fair, Matt Coleridge & Addy on the Skybar. No lineup for the KH - not sure if that'll change as it would be very strange not having the KH part of one the big events. Wonder if it has anything to do with recent events....

Last time BBB spun Guv was at Labor of Love and I need not say how insane that was. I can only imagine how rammed its gonna be on another long weekend and with no KH

Posted by malek on May-24-2003 06:03:

last time i saw BBB he pretty average... short set. He has mad skillz tho!

was Carl Cox oringally supposed to play in the Kool Haus before he cancelled ..?

hrmmz.. maybe they've got something up their sleeve..

How do you get to skybar? Does that connect to the GC lounge or something, do you need a pass?

Yes - Carl was playing, but in GUvernment. He cancelled, the rumor is because of SARS.

There won't be anything further planned for Kool Haus because every year on that day, VICTORY is held in Kool Haus. It's a giant party that finishes off Pride week.

Thank god there's another techno event going on elsewhere that night now that Carl cancelled - I was NOT looking forward to stepping foot into Guv.
