You are correct, sir!
Ok...so it's 345am...I just rolled back in from Tiesto...I can't hear...I'm sore pretty much all over...I'm going through litres of water one after another...musta been a pretty good show.
Now...granted it was kind of a late filling crowd...I'd say 11 pm it started to resemble a decent crowd for the venue (doors opened at 9)...alot people were wondering why no one was around...and the 150 total half were upstais in the balcony (i never get that part)...and since it was all ages...Yup had to put up w/ all the kids from Seattle that couldn't go to the show up there...LOL...and lemme tell ya ther were a lot of them...all saying how they had to come here to see it LOL...But it did fill in nicely...maybe not a sellout but I couldn't tell or care from the first/second row vantnage point I took. Add that all up and the last 3 1/2 to 4 hours of the show were pretty hoppin.
Sanger's set was good stuff...even got the floor bouncin a couple times in the last hour of his 3 hour set (granted that first 30 min they messed around with a cuttoff or whatnot on the mixer that wasn't turnin right or somethin)
And Tiesto's set was Bangin...Definately Harder, Deeper stuff than what I've heard him play in the past. (Totally different feel than say his Jan/Feb? set from Space in Miami) It worked well with the folks though...floor was sure bouncing a lot. And I was satisfied with the length of mix too...Usually in PDX stuff ends awful early...1-2 am tops...this pushed 3 am. I'm not a critiquer by any means...but it's the best PDX has seen for quite a while.
I have never seen PVD (at all) or Tiesto at other venues so I can't compare it to other shows...but I certainly enjoyed it and will look forward to doing similar in the future. Only thing I could think that would have been better would be say been at the Seattle show (or any other city for that matter) since the average age of the peeps would have been closer to me...but the Venue is real good in my opinion...even though tickets are sometimes hard to sell out this way for this type of music. (i.e. open the market to the younger crowd to sell more)
If you ever get the chance, forced to come to PDX due to sellout, etc...The Crystal Ballroom is a kewl venue for such events. The old school wood floor has a good 6 inches of give in it. The Trampoline effect it gives you when the crowd is bouncin' is like nothing any club/venue I've been too before can match (on that aspect)
Well...too much bumpin and grindin for one night...if there is such a thing

sounds like you had a GOOOOOOD ole time!
This is the second time I've seen Tiesto. The last time was fall 2001 in MN. I had a better time back then, but I'm still glad I went last night. He's the first major DJ I've seen since moving out to the west coast last year. I'd agree his set was a bit darker and harder. There was probably a 20-25 minute stretch in there where he mixed some techno I'd never heard. It did add another side to his set, but I do prefer the melodic stuff.
My friends and I got there about 10. The last hour Noel mixed was really solid, but I only recognized a few of the tunes he spun. I liked his efforts to connect with the crowd and get things rolling for Tiesto. My friends stuck back in the 21+ section where the crowd was thinner the whole show, so I left them for a good 45 minutes to get up to about the 5th row during Tiestos set. The audience was pretty energetic up there. I would have stayed up there longer, but I ran out of water and started to dry up again.
Tiesto seemed very much in his element the whole night, was relaxed, and really seemed to enjoy being where he was and doing what he was doing. He had the signature smile going, and got his eagle-superman stretch going several times. He even did his little spin dance like I've seen him do during Flight 643 for his Feb 2, 02 gig.
I found it interesting that security was cracking down on glow sticks. Just doing their jobs, but the new federal law is even more strict than I thought...that's what they credited for their actions.
The venue overall seems pretty decent, and the floor did add a little something to the overall experience. It would have been great to have seen the whole place packed, but those there took advantage of the time. It was also nice to get pretty close to the front without getting suffocated. I think Tiesto finished up a little after 2:30. I knew or recognized about 2/3 of the stuff he mixed. I preferred the first time I saw him because he mixed much more euphoric/melodic tracks then. He catered well to a variety of tastes last night. Overall, my favorite tune was his remix of Tears from the Moon... the crowd really responded (as did I). Also, one time his record skipped and he gave it an inquisitive look, but the player kept on and he prepared the next record. It didnt seem to break the beat too bad.
I'm not as a good a trainspotter as I used to be, but here's what I can recollect (he did not mix in any Andain, bummer!):
The "red pill" tune, which I think is MFG - Wonderland, he opened with this
Mr Sam vs Fred Baker Presnt - Forever Waiting
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (G&D Remix)
Tiesto - Skin
Solid Globe - North Pole
Tiesto - Lethal Industry
Conjure One - Tears From The Moon (Tisto in Search of Sunrise Remix)
Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
Kid Vicious - Proceed
Tiesto - Nyana
Tiesto remix of Barber's Adagio for Strings <-encore title
He might have mixed these (anyone recall?):
Solarstone vs Sirocco - Destination
The Ambush - Acapulco
The Gift - Love Angel
The Green Martian - Wizardry
Again, there was a string of techno tracks I couldnt name.
Well, anyways, I wish I was in Vegas tonight!!

Your air hookup sounds nice. It seems like San Francisco gets a lot of good talent.
I saw several digital cameras at the show. Anyone have pics to share?
