young'n's. It's nice that you guys got to start so early... I never had the cash until now... but I still think I'm pretty young at 17. I don't think it matters so much the age, what really probably matters is how fast you can pick it up.
Almost 17 here. I was 16year and 2 months when i started. So, i've been dj'in for 9 months now...
First laid my hands on tables at age 16. Messed around for a bit, and left it alone. Picked it back up hard core at 18 when i bought stanton str8-80's and a stanton RM-something mixer. Perfect that in about a year and a half and bought techs shortly there after.
Which leads me to present. Age 22.
btw. soon my system will be for sale; techs, mixer, and about 1000 or so vinyl. No need to take them with me to europe to live. Im thinking its time to hang the headphones up. Ive gotten where i wanted to and im happy.
14....but my dad would let me "DJ" his dinner-parties when I was younger....
I was 14 when I first started about 8 weeks before my 15th birthday and I'm 16 now.

Wow, I was not aware that so many people got started this early. I was DJing at a skating rink at 16, but kinda lost touch with DJing until about a couple years later. I picked up some equipment when I was 18 and have been doing it ever since (I'm 21).
I'm glad to see that people started young, we need to overpower this older generation of DJs that tell us about the "good old days" in Chicago and Detroit, when house was just coming into its own blah blah blah. I appreciate the nostalgia, but I live in the present, thanks.
Oops..started a rant. I'll stop now.
started at 15 with traktor, now im 16 with tables
Damn it, I wish I would have started way back just like Armin(AVB)did(he and I are same age) when he was 4, but I waited 21yrs to start at 25, now 26. Fortunately though, I've always been involved with Music, playing piano or drumms, singing, or dance competitions(not ballroom dancing,
but modern dances when I was like 8 to 11)So that helped me understand how to LISTEN to music and not just hear it.Those who have been doing this for a while, know exactly what I mean by that. Cheers...
started about a month before my 16th b-day and have been spinning 18 months making me 17
