Exclamation Question For All DJ's!

I have recently brought a cheep Bush turntable for recording vinyl onto my computer. The problem is that the stylus is shit quality and although the sound quality is fine, it keeps on crackling and skipping on the record. I am thinking about spending 50-100 on a new stylus, but I have no idea whether it will be compatible. Are all cartridges cpmpatible with all decks? ..Please let me know your advice

p.s the tone arm is S shape

u should check ur weight.. u might have it set too light, which can cause the needle to come out of the groove and send the tone arm barrelling towards the label of the record.. or just slightly come out of place.. i believe too much weight has bad effects too but i forget this early.. and y in the world would u spend soo much money for a single stylus? unless u mean the cartridge and stylus which i'm pretty sure is what u meant. as far as i know, i've not heard of any incompatibilities but then again, i've not heard of ur brand of TT either, but i'm assuming it has standard connects so u should be fine, or call the manufacturer of the deck and ask them, just don't let them try to sell you another one of their shitty carts, and one last idea, when u call them, tell them the cartridge that came w/ ur deck is bunk and they need to replace it!

Ya, it's most of the time compatible.
You've probably got an audiosonic cartrige.
Now, these are compatible with stantons and most of the other styli there are.(except with the special ones fcuz)

I recomend this one

the shure M44-7

or

Ortofon OM Pro

Or

Ortofon OM Night Club E

Normally, you should be able to attach them to almost every needleholder there is.

you also neeed to find out if your tonearm takes p-mount cartridges or half-inch...here are pics that might help:

Half-Inch

P-Mount

i know Grado has a dj line that sounds really good and the specs are amazing. i have a pair of dj100s that sound alot better than my nightclub e's which are considered to be one of the best dj cartridges. i think the dj200s are better about not skipping so much when back cuing and they sound a bit better. if youre just recording i would suggest getting some audiophile type like grados becuase you dont really need the kind of groove holding capabilities that make the dj cartridges expencive. with audiophile carts youre pouring money into sound quality instead of performance.
