teaching a girl?

i have this friend ( a girl), and she wants to start spin.
she is like really hot and shit, and i was wondering, would
it be okay for me to use the fact that im gonna teach her,
to give it a try on my young padawan?

im just interested if its a dj codec for this or something?

Posted by sebjr on May-28-2003 09:32:

no!

if you do this, your decks will disappear in a cloud of dust and you will never be able to beat match again!

Thread (x3) Deleted.

though if you're smart you'll take a loooong time to teach her

"padawan"

I thought this was what DJing was for?

It can be something wonderful... making music with a person.

It can also kill you! like when your girlfriend in high school joins your rock band.

careful.

LMAO, utter quality

Go for it my friend, being a female theres every chance she will be rubbish at spinning so she will give up after a short time so jump in. Just throw in lots of inuendo - "You are very good at tweaking those knobs!"

I taught this girl how to golf.....well it was more like a strip golf. If your shot isn't straight, then something must come off. I'm sure you could apply this method to your situation. ENjoy

i think its a bad idea if you a friend and she feels the same.

how about, do her the favor and teach her and see where it goes from there.

wow, that was an incredibley sexist and stupid comment! A&&hole!!! so i'm never going to be good at spinning b/c i'm a girl? so i'm going to give up soon? i don't think so!

anyway, you can't really "teach" someone to dj, they really have to get their own dex, and their own vinyl. unless they live with you, in which case they will then be wearing out your needle and probably mess something up, as we all do when we first learn.

tell this girl that if she's really serious about spinning, she will go out and get her own set of dex. then offer to help her out when she does get her own equipment and practices everyday.
besides i don't know why you would want to try to teach someone to spin, it would be incredibly boring listening to someone trainwreck the same damn songs over and over. go to a movie or something.

Ok, just to get something straight... Most guys dont get into DJing because they like to spin... catch my drift? On the other hand, some actually go into it because they love and obsess about music, like myself (my friends think im a nut job).

Dude, if you think its worth it, go for it... lemme just give you a pointer on this... if she is your friend, leave it at that... let it ride out... usually its just a phase. My opinion is she likes you, enough to where she wants to do something you do or like. Take it slow kiddo, pushing too far will usually end up on the other side of a palm/fist.

Can you deal with this?? If so, just be yourself.

when i was looking at the picture i was like "HOLY SHIT, THAT IS A SHITTY ASS MIXER" but then i was like "ohhhhhhhhhhhh....haha"

Posted by Vlad on May-29-2003 01:17:

Just to mention: That is not me in the pic, and I dont think I will ever be able to pull that off.

God gave us guys 2 heads, and only enough blood to function 1 at a time... I could just imagine reaching climax as Im mixing over to the other song, and all of a sudden *RIPPPP* and I fuck up and scratch up the record... That would cause a riot

If a females good enough then so be it, but I find it funny how so many female DJ's make it as hard house DJ's, pretty much the easiest style of music to mix.

very uneducated comment this one.

the majority of female dj's i've come across are from places like germany and they spin techno, gayle san, monika kruse, etc.

techno is actually very very hard to spin.

just adding my two cents.

Posted by deejay2002 on May-29-2003 17:23:

nothing is hard to mix....

I mix 70's disco.... 70's disco will get your body movin. lol

bwahahahahahahahaha

Posted by *dB* on May-29-2003 18:25:

In Canada there are quite a few female DJ's.
Most of them are really good and they cover almost every style i can think of....

besides 70's disco..... LOL

Posted by Technaut on May-29-2003 19:29:

nothing wrong with trying to get a fair share of putang....

Hey now... There are some very talented female DJs. and just as many posers as thier are male DJs. Women actually tend to be more musically inclined than men in my experience. not just as far as spinning rekkids.. but generally when it comes to musical knack...

I've seen some great female DJs... women that can rock the decks, look good doing it, and move the crowd quite nicely. you should check it sometime :P

now, on the other hand, there are plenty of female DJs who have got where they are because of thier chest. I don't have much respect for them, but hey, there are plenty of dudes who are just as much of posers in this industry.

--------

....... anyways, I say you should teach her to spin! why the hesitation?

peace
