-- a NEW CHILDREN reMix with Sandstorm

Posted by Widget on Dec-31-2000 09:40:

Talking

There's a new remix of Robert Miles' Children.
It's called "Children of the Sandstorm"
it can be found on Napster.
Don't know how decent it is, haven't heard it yet - only got told about it.

Oh, it may not be that new, but it's only come out here (South Africa) now.

Oh man, that sucks,a piece of amateur shit...
I could do it better. There are only three different sounds, and only two of them are descently mixed...

I agree it stinks of piss, i think its done by this guy who has hearing in one ear, and thinks DaRude is a classy DJ, whose records don't all sound the same !!! yeh right !

Posted by toaster on Jan-02-2001 23:56:

darude just released his first record so...hard to say at this point, but stay tuned.

Posted by agi on Jan-03-2001 15:16:

what you talking about he has released sandstorm and that other piss feel the beat. Both with the same shitty synth sound

Posted by ozy on Jan-04-2001 01:08:

Arrow

I agree with Agi, nearly all Darudes tracks/remixes have those same damn Arpeggioed synths.. drives me nuts

Posted by ravedave on Jan-04-2001 03:49:

Sonds cool I'll check it out!!!

Posted by Widget on Jan-04-2001 09:05:

It's not as bad as the people on this post have made it out - it's different, not brilliant, but I think a lot better than some of the other stuff out there.

If you wanna hear a good remix of children, download the tilt remix.

Sandstorm in general

that's one thing I've noticed most about this particular track along with the amount of airtime it's received from mainstream radio ...

People either love it or hate it. I've hardly come across anyone who just thinks of the track like any other. Even with DJ's... you have guys like Corsten who play it at large parties and guys like Tiesto who don't even consider it trance or worth playing for that matter.

Wells according to his website http://www.darude.com , the Fins seem to be really proud about Darude's work.

dEsidEL

ps. i hear the track is just starting to get mainstream airtime down in the US... correct me if i'm wrong.

I like Darude's Sandstorm it's not the greatest track in the world, but it has energy and is guaranteed to get a crowd moving, although I get the impression that in Europe it is over commercialized and played out. Too bad every other song I've heard from Darude sounds just like sandstorm.

Fortunately I haven't heard it that many times and can still enjoy it. I suppose that is a "benefit" of living in a city where trance on the radio amounts to a few hours of airtime at midnight Saturday night mixed with techno, house, and jungle. Well, at least that's more than I can say for other US cities.

I also LOVE "Children", it's one of those tracks that always brings back memories, very emotional. But this combination does NOT work. In fact it kind of makes me angry that somebody decided to disgrace Children bringing it back like this. Maybe it could if it were done correctly but this mix sounds more like someone playing a bit of Children... then a bit of Sandstorm... then some more of Children... then some more of Sandstorm and so on.

Sandstorm!!!hmmmm

Well peoples.... honestly Sandstorm does get played to much..but you cant judge a tune when you have heard it millions of times over and over again...any song would go on your nerves.....but i bet majority of you when you first heard Sandstorm you probably was like holy shit awsome tune!!...thats how i was.I loved it ...it was very differnt in feel and sound.had a very differnt appeal to it then other songs!!..his other shit might suck.but ohh well we are talking about sandstorm...and i read somewhere that it was the biggest crowd lifting tune of 2000...so it cant be that bad... Darude was a mp3 music producer on the internet...and got his song Sandstorm noticed through a amature mp3 site!...so got to give him props for that shit!!

Thumbs up Sandstorm ... again

yeah wells i'd agree with that .. i mean the first couple of times i heard the track i'd have to admit that it did have quite a beat to it that would make it very easily liked... and maybe it's just that which made it so unpopular with a lotta hardcore trance fans.

I just think that it's a shame when a track that starts off so well ends up being raped and commercialized by mainstream clubs and radio and overplayed to death thus making it a sore ear ... well in the case of the scene in Toronto ..(IMHO). But I suppose something like that is inevitable when something becomes so popular such as that.

Yes, Sandstorm got overplayed to death and beyond.
There's no denying that it's a catchy track.
When I first heard it, my opinion was that it's a little bit too simple, but catchy.

Many people hate Darude because of his instant popularity, he didn't have to work eions like most artists/DJs to become successful.

Feel the Beat is not a bad track either, he shouldn't have used the same synth sample from Sandstorm though, he pulled a major 'atb' which is the reason why I still don't like atb.

Although many people and DJs continue to deny it, he is definitely good!

off his album:
Out Of Control
Calm Before The Storm
Let The Music Take Control

is proof of that.... and let's not forget about:
Blank & Jones - Beyond Time (Darude vs. Js16 rmx)
Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Darude Remix)

both are awesome rmx, the best rmxes of both songs hands down IMO.
Are they getting played though?
not really, barely nobody has heard about the Darude rmx of Synaesthesia, and that's too bad because it really rocks.
It's too bad for the people that are trying to shut him out, because he's gonna go far in the industry.

I have to agree that calm Before the storm is an awesome track...alot less synth in it..

sandstorm was good in the beginning, not when every 14-year old kid started listening to it, trance lovers (either hated it or) got sick of it when it was starting to get popular, just like zombie nation and delirium... zombie nation is more than a year old and is still sold here in oslo...!! besides, all his songs are almost the same, just like atb and his first album (haven't heard the new one) and alice deejay and vengaboys... okay, now i'm moving away from trance, ain't i?? well you get my point, it's so boring when they all sound alike...

except gouryella and system f that is... :]

I'm from Finland and I have to say that, first times when I heard sandstorm I loved it. But now, I've heard it like.....1000 times. And it makes me sick... last time I heard it was... today, when darude played live in TV, well luckyly it was a mix.

Posted by dEsidEL on Jan-06-2001 02:09:

hrmmzz...

wells i guess that just goes to show that commercialization of Sandstorm has happened almost everywhere in the world.. (dunno about the US tho)

such a shame tho .. wells i guess that's what you get when ur track has such a catchy tune.

dEsidEL

Posted by Widget on Jan-06-2001 10:00:

Yep, it's been heavily over-played in South Africa as well. All the dance / house clubs here still play it almost every night. The radio stations have killed it off completely. Every day you used to hear it a couple of time. Wayyyyy to much.

But this happens with all tracks which become popular, they get radio-killed.

The slogan should change from "tv killed the radio star", to "radio killed the music song".

ah true dat ...

too true .. wells lets just hope that as broadband technology gets better people will be able to access a wider array of radio stations off the net ie. Digitally Imported .. this way ppl won't just start liking a track after mainstream radio has shoved it up their ass ..

Posted by cheesenip on Jan-07-2001 06:29:

i downloaded that Children/Sandstorm "Remix" from napster... its hardly a mix because all it basically is Children playing, then Sandstorm starts up, then Children starts up, and then it does that until the song ends... and yes, Sandstorm is talked about and played too much, but I guess all songs that are popular and goes mainstream end up like that.

Posted by ravedave on Jan-07-2001 07:38:

This mix is SHIT!!!

Posted by mjustiniano on Jan-07-2001 14:01:

Question i wonder..?

what does darude think of this himself? was he thinking of becoming such a big artist, or not? did he believe that his song(s) would become such (a) hit(s)? and most important: does he care about what all of us say? i mean, he is after all making shitloads of money! wouldn't you've done the same? bet i would...

Posted by mjustiniano on Jan-07-2001 14:02:

...but his songs do sound way too much alike!!!

Posted by dEsidEL on Jan-07-2001 21:32:

wtf...

i still dun think anything beats .. Darude vs. Will Smith - Blackstorm .. i mean WTF is this ?!?

:]
