Fake Unreleased AIRBASE tune

Speaking to AIRBASE on the hub chat tonight it turns out chemicalrecords has been selling dodgy copies of

Rah - Glow / Wave

according to the man himself he hasnt even sent the masters off to platipus yet and theyve only heard 96kbps mp3 versions of the song....

the song itself isnt even due for release for another month or so...

beware of dodgy copies of this tune cos simply... its not what it says it is!

Haha, this is f**ked up!

I was talking to Airbase on EMC and i was talking to him about this release, aparently Wave is the same Airbase pres. Moon - Wave, and Glow is Moogwai - Neon (airbase remake).
Anyway, i said to him i just bought it, and he's like yeah right, and i said yeah they have it at Chemical, So he went and checked and he was shocked! As JoeCool mentioned he hasnt even sent the masters off and its not due out in months!

So yeah, he emailed Platipus and Chemical about it, so either one of them is gonna be in a lot of shit, probably Chemical.

Also Plastic Boy - Live Another Life is apprently for sale there as well, which isnt meant to be released for another couple of weeks! Also notice the high price chemical are puttin on their "promos". My guess is heaps of people are buying these promos thinking they have them at a higher price cos they want to be the first to have them and Chemical is cashing in on it!

FUCKING DODGY!!

Will be interesting to see what ends up happening. I am boycotting chemical till i find out from Airbase what will happen.

Thats the thing, they don't have the song! People are gonna go buy this at chemical cos they'll be like "Wow chemical has this song and no other places do" but then they'll have to wait months to get it. Meanwhile all the other record stores wiath (ethically) for them to actually have it in stock before they start selling it. Very dodgy!!

is Plastic boy - Live another life actually signed to Chemical ?

Yes, they've got a limited amount of copies of that track.
Did u miss the "Chemical Give-Away" that was posted by Brisky yesterday?

Posted by Ghostface on Jun-06-2003 04:46:

That's really dodgy. Chemical not only strive to rip off their customers but rape the producers as well.

Posted by Aquaplex on Jun-06-2003 05:44:

fuck sake guys, cant believe you say this, Chemical are not dodgy and are no way ripping off producers, they are not posting false information either! they have posted me plastic boy today, as well as Rapid Eye - Stealing Beauty a proper release... he has very VERY good contacts... not sure on this Platipus thing tho!

Regards

that dodgey I agree people. Thats why you should support us - we might not have all the upfront promos but at least we dont pass them off for ridiculous prices. we've got 3rd Earth already and some promos. We are still establishing contacts but hopefully soon we will be able to provide promos from labels like Lost Language etc. Jules

i like chemical, never been dissapointed with my records. Promos are promos, and there is never guarantee that it is a "real" promo. Anyone can make vinyls.

whoa, so how do you think they got a copy of you're track? somone probably hacked into you're comp, snuck it off to chemical, who then got it mastered and pressed ?

but on a different note, has anyone heard the vinyl? i just wonder what the qualities like i might get myself a copy j/k

Oh, has anyone contacted Chemical Records to ask if it has been
missplaced in the webshop?

Airbase

Hi All,

Brisky from chemical records here, in reply to the disturbing points raised in the above thread I would like to set the record straight.

Platipus and Chemical Records work very closely together, We help promote the up and coming releases of this label by running a small exclusive promotional run. This gives my customers the chance to be as up to date as the main DJ's on the circuit....

Rah - Glow is not released until the 7th of July but we have got a small quantity to help promote this record to a mass audience.

It upsets me to think that people are accusing me of cheating as my aim is to contribute as much as I can towards a successful industry.

If anyone has any further queries please don't hesitate to contact Platipus.com....

Cheers Brisky

I think Airbase should get to know his label more.

people ought to stop being twats and accusing others of things they aren't even sure about. =D

Shame / Disagreement

nice one Brisky, I cant believe these people..... regular customers know that Chemical are fucking quality and are not bullshitters, how dare you people categorise them in the same league as Dance Music Finder and HTFR! shame on you!

I got my copy of Plastic Boy today, yipeeeeee =)

Posted by gaz@influential on Jun-06-2003 17:41:

The people who originally posted in this topic should think pretty carefully before accusing people again - I know for a fact that this release has been on vinyl for a while as I received a white label from Platipus a week ago. Chemical are also renowed for getting upfront tunes like Plastic Boy from the labels directly, that's why they're a damn good store

Clearly there's been wires crossed somewhere along the line, but the logical solution would have been for the concerned parties to contact Platipus / Chemical privately, rather than posting unfounded accusations on someone else's behalf on a public message board.

On a lighter note, fair play to Brisky for being very understanding about the whole thing
