quick question

does it matter if u record old and new tracks together in one demo cd? or in a set?

it all depends

if your sending in ur demo to a club owner and all it has is tracks that have already been played out hes gonna be more likely to stop listening to it sooner then lately.

if your doing a party its different. i know me and my friends love to hear new music but when you throw in an old track every once in awhile it will spark a conversation between us and more often than not get people that were not dancing, dancing

hope this helps

Personally I think throwing in a couple of older tracks is a good idea... it certainly stops your mix sounding like the mix done by someone else who's bought all the same new records as you...

I agree, you can use older stuff, just dont use too much stuff that has been played out. Plus be alitte creative with them, throw some effects in them or what not, have fun with the older tracks. Also dont use recent hits that have been played out too, try not to duplicate other DJ's too much. You want to show the owners or whoever you have the skill to play anything, new, old, or unknown. Have fun with it.
