Greenland and Iceland Mind blower

This has been on my mnd for a long time and it's time to find out why. I wanna know why Greenland is all ice, and Iceland is all green grass? Help me out.

The myth is...as i have heard it... that the names were made like that by Vikings or something to trick other civilizations or something from going to the right island, so they would freeze and die. I dunno, dont flame me please.

the viking thing is true...but to quote the mighty ducks:

"greenland is full of ice and iceland is very nice!"

btw, why do ppl drive on the parkway and park on the driveway????
