new track in progress (sample)

well well, it's time for me again to post something that might be called the result of being creative

I talked with Trancevision for a while today and promised that I would have a sample up by tonight from my newest track (and my first track in two months)

Download: Vizay - Energy

I've only been able to create it with headphones today because my family's sleeping so don't bash me to much about the current EQ'ing...I'm gonna fix that tomorrow

well enough said, is it worth finishing or is it another one of those crappy rsn that should be put away in a dark corner somewhere?

How long did you work on it? I'll give a listen tonight.

hmmm...let me see...the melody came to my head about 2 days ago...took about 2 minutes to fix...and the rest I did today...so a couple of hours work, say 3-5 hours...

I think that the lead sample is really cool. Not really fond of the lead itself though. I think you should play around a bit with the rythm, i mean the off beat 8th note stuff is kinda overdone. I realllly really like the lead sample you used. Sounds kinda hardstyle.

IMO it's always good to finish tunes - all part of the learning process! Don't forget the final mixing and mastering stages can be the most important in getting a good sound out of your track, so practice them

Well, it's an ok idea. Not going to storm Europe in its current state, but beef up the bass and add some proper percussion in and you should end up with something releasable.

Posted by Vizay on Jun-08-2003 14:14:

well about the bass...I'm working on it, my biggest problem is percussion and bassline sounds so I'm gonna work extra hard on them in this track

if I get the time to work on it it should be finished in about a week or so

PS. ohh and by the way...i listened to the eq'ing today on my speakers...geesh never again am I going to use headphones

wasn't even close to good but I've fixed it now

I liked the melody. That's what you were wanting feedback on, I think. The lead sounds kind of...thin, but once the bass is added and percussion it probably won't be as noticable and will probably actually fit better in the mix. The rhythm is fine. Good work, especially for not much time in the worx!

listening right now...

melody's good, i like the pause around :43, sounds really cool.

i think this has potential. i think off-the-bat you should focus on some serious buidup and climax stuff. if done right, this could kick some ass. well, thats where i would start anyway. what program did you use to make this? .rsn means reason right? would you be willing to send me the file so i could tool around with it? i have some ideas... PM me.

BTW i know what you mean about the headphones. i live alone but the neighbors are very bitchy! they put up notes about me on the apartment building bulletin board trying to get me kiced out.

lol

Tony's too busy, and Furio's still hobbling around on that bad leg (I'm still stuck in season 3 - no HBO).

nice to see someone else who apreciates good televison.

What did you use to make that? Reason? Any hardware or other programs?

I like the melody. Witha heavy bass line and a good kick and solid percussion and a breakdown/buildup or two it could turn into a very nice track.

Posted by DJMikeyP on Jun-13-2003 09:13:

yeah dude I agree with everyone else - up the bass and the kick and you'll have something alot better.

Posted by Vizay on Jun-13-2003 10:51:

what I've used is simply reason and Cubase SX to sample some synthsounds from the FM7 but the sequencing is in reason

I'm really blown back by all the good coments I've gotten on this, really gives me energy () to continue and finish the track

expect updates on the song soon (will be posted in this thread)
