Gods Kitchen Scotland Reviews

What A Night

Me, Theb, Gatecrasher, and another person called Rob Qued Up at 8.30 and we got in at 9.40....John 00 Flemming Spun Some Really Good Tunes, Then Came Tall Paul, but We went to sundistential arena and blasting the tunes was crazy dave. Sundy Arena was OMG so banging. We got over 100 photos, including sound videos Went Back to see mistress barbera, who was very bangin, then Armin Van Buuren - OMG what a set, i ripped myself into serious jumping mode when i heard motorcycle - as the rush comes, pulser - my religion and Marco Vs C:\del*.mp3 song. Awesome Set. Paul Van Dyk Ripped some nice tunes, but i went for a little rest outside, as my feet were burning, cought the end of his set, and Fergie came on playing what the **** by fatboy slim. Bangin. Ferry Corsten Was Brilliant. He Played Punk, Indigo which are his own tunes, and played Satisfaction after Punk and PLASTIC BOY - LIVE ANOTHER LIFE. OMG.. Crowd Went Mental. Marco V ended it, hardly recognised any of the tunes he played as at 5.30 my feet couldnt take it, and the speakers where controling my heart. I got a gods kitchen flag, which is cool. Great Night. Met Fergie and Got a Pic taken with Brian (Theb) and Marco V. Was Totally Brilliant
We Even saw 2 people banging away behind a skip LOL. There Was no seats apart from grass and slabs outside which was pretty annoying. Drink and Hotdogs were a bit pricey and 14 quid for a gods kitchen flag.......hmmm... bought it anyway .

Keith

More To Come From Gatecrasher and theb, and I beleive this was on Beat 106, as they captured some sets including Marco V, Mistres Barbera and Ferry Corsten.

Nice review Keith, I have got some quality vids and photos, they will be posted on the site as soon as possible. All in all an excellent nite, pity about the sound at the start. Tune of the nite I reckon Live Another Life and set of the nite would go to Pvd or Marco although Armin was quality too.

After seeing the lineup for this event I decided that we MUST go and as easyjet fly straight from Aldergrove to Edinburgh it seemed like the perfect opportunity. The crew for the night included Theb, Rob, Keith (Scottish guy Theb was chatting to on another messageboard) and myself. We touched down at 8:30 and walked 10 minutes from the airport to the venue which was only round the corner :-) We were met with a huge queue when we got to the venue and it took us to 9:40 to actually get into the Highland Centre. The arena was like a huge aircraft hanger unfortunately the roof did not seem to hold in much of the sound and for the first few hours the music was quite low.

The first DJ on when we got into the arena was John OO Flemming, I was surprised to see him on as I thought his style would have been ideal for a later slot. Anyway we got to hear John for about half an hour and his set included the awesome track JOOF - Act Of God (Hardtrance Edit). John OO finished his set at 10 o'clock to be followed by Tall Paul. Tall Paul's set was OK but we were a bit disappointed by the level of the music and decided to go Sundiessential Arena to see what was happening there. The music in this arena was definitely loud enough and it was really going off. I have never been a big fan of hard house but the music that was being played in the Sundiessential Arena was class. Strange Dave was playing and the crowd was really going mad. The Arena kind of reminded me of Cream with it's industrial look and metal roof. We stayed in the Sundiessential Arena until 11:45 then decided to go back into the main arena for the change of DJ.

The main arena was now packed and Misstress Barbara was on the decks. This was my second time seeing her and again she was awesome. Misstress Barbara played from 11 o'clock to 12 when Armin Van Buuren took to the decks :-) :-) :-) :-)

Just as with John OO I was surprised that Armin was playing so early, but anyway I made the most of it and the Irishclubbing crew moved up to the front of the crowd. The first track that Armin played was The Matrix - Blue Pill, Red Pill (Junkie XL Remix), this tune has a cracking build up and it really got the crowd going from the very start. Closely following the Junkie XL Remix was the one tune that I really wanted to hear Armin play, Gabriel & Dresden pres. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes, I got a video of the track being played, the only problem was that the sound was quite low, anyway great tune that sent me mad!!

Armin also played the Global Gathering Anthem, Pulser - My Religion and an awesome tune that I really want to know the name of, the male vocal on the track keeps saying 'this is a starter, this is a starter' then the track breaks down and an awesome beats comes in, I have heard it before but have no ID :-( After this track was Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust (NU-NRG Remix), Marco V - C:/Del*mp3 and Coldplay - Clocks (Marco V Bootleg). Again Armin did not disappoint me, a masterful trance offering!!

Following on from Armin's great set was another trancemeister, Paul Van Dyk. Paul continued were Armin had left off and played another brilliant set which was full of great baselines and awesome breakdowns. The moment of the night for me came when Paul Van Dyk played his own production Nothing But You, the lights came up when the melody kicked in and every hand in the crowd was raised in the air, a great sight. Paul also played For A Revolt (Bootleg), Three Drives - Carrera 2 (NU-NRG Remix) and Underworld - Born Slippy. The set lasted from 1:00 to 2:30, it was a real treat to hear Paul Van Dyk play for 1 and a half hours when most of the other DJ's only played for an hour.

Next up at 2:30 was Fergie, Theb was not impressed by his antics, outside the VIP room we had tried to give Fergie a card for this website but he said 'wait a minute lad' and fucked off!!!! Nonetheless he played another banging set of techno which went down a real storm. Fergie played until 4 o'clock then it was back to some trance and Ferry Corsten.

Ferry Corsten produced yet another storming set on a night which was turning out to be one of the best ever. I have seen Ferry play a few times know and this set has got to go down as the best yet, it included Afterburn - Summer Sun, Condor - Velvet Dreams (Club Mix), his very own production Indigo (went down a treat) and Plasticboy - Live Another Life which is for me the best track of the year so far.

And to the final set of the night, brought to us by a very tired looking Marco V!! Marco may have looked tried but his music was far from it, it was driving and thumping and kept us all dancing right until 6 in the morning. Marco really picked up the pace from where Ferry had left off and he played quite a lot of CDR's which were really awesome tracks and desperately need ID'ing!!!! Marco played a good amount of new tracks that I have never heard but he also included his own production C:/Del*mp3 and his remix of Jens - Loops &Tings and the brilliant Solar Factor - No Return. Marco's set was again brilliant and at the end we got to talk to him and I took a picture of Marco, Theb and Keith. We left the arena at 6 o'clock and were greeted by drizzle (everytime I have been to Scotland it has always rained!!), it was a slow walk back to the airport!!

All in all this was another top night brought to us by Godskitchen. Every DJ that played was in top form and we got to hear some amazing techno and trance. A couple of downsides from the night were that the music was not loud enough during Tall Paul and Armin Van Buuren's sets and that drinks were very expensive however the music was class which was the most important thing!!
