I think its very good.
the mixing is very good 2

One comment: Tiesto is using the same songs over and over again in all his live sets, cd's.

Hello! i agree

i love it to bits, but i think if he had chosen a couple of differant tunes maybe more up and coming ones rather than this shit that has been hammered a million times before it would have been more appealing

Posted by YuVaL on Jun-11-2001 14:48:

It is a good set
and you're right 2... he plays a lot of his songs over and over again...
should get some more vinyls...!!
=)

he did a gr8 mixin
but the tune selection at the begining wasn't that good..

Posted by Jah on Jun-11-2001 14:52:

oh i dunno

i thought the initial bit was pretty well done maybe he could have found a better 2 or 3 but the rest was good... i love the first track :P just such a nice tune... and im sucker for talking vocals done right (madonna song? ) i thought "flesh" and all that was overdone alot

Posted by YuVaL on Jun-11-2001 14:55:

I love the madonna track...
But wasn't it

Maddona - What It Feels Like for a girl (Paul Oakenfold Mix)
and not (Above And Beyond Mix)
??

Smile yeh it could be

im not familiar with the remix's int hat i have the above and beyond one on single but the others ive just heard in sets

I believe that magik 6 is much and much better than this compilation, the first half of the CD isn't that good IMHO, the 2nd half of the CD is OK, but still not better then Magik 6

Still downloading...lol I know the tracklist, so I know what to expect

Posted by luxor on Jun-11-2001 18:31:

anyone else find the talking annoying? the poetry or whatever it is about God... I don't necessarily dislike the subject matter, but it's frustrating to hear the blahblahblah over the music. grrr... I hate it when djs do this.

Posted by mute79 on Jun-11-2001 18:40:

ahahaha, dude, it wasn't poetry and it wasnt the dj talking... thats how the track goes... d/l it and give it a listen...

Posted by luxor on Jun-11-2001 19:10:

d/l it? no thanks, I believe you

its not good? oh please!!... One thing you all seem to forget is that this is his first appearance in LA. He's basically introducing himself to the whole LA scene and of course he's gonna play the tracks he deems as most popular. It's more to give off a good first impression. If you were a DJ and playing in a foreign city for the first time would you bust out new tracks? Think bout it!!! You all have been spoiled by listening to these recorded live mixes and so you know wat record he usually spins. If you didnt have access to the recorded live mixes I think you would be more appreciative. Also, you know that if you were part of the audience in LA, as I was, then you'd go crazy even if you knew wat songs he was playing. So dont complain. Tiesto rocks and so does Magik 7!!!!!!

Posted by mute79 on Jun-11-2001 19:50:

magik 7 is pretty good, but its nowhere near magik 5 or 6... mixing is good, no complaints, which brings me to his revolution mix... umm seriously now, it doesnt sound like tiesto mixed that compilation... weird!

Well said wushuboy, I agree with you that he did need to make a good first impression on the US, the reason all those tunes are played out is because they are all GOOD and most Americans haven't even heard of them. By putting the good, ole', and trusted tunes on the compilation, Magik 7 was going to be an assured hit, in the US at least. That's what Tiesto was aiming for. All of you saying that Tiesto's Magik 7 "sucked" or "was his worst" need to look at it from his own shoes, not your own, a live set isn't just defined by what songs are played, you have to take into account other factors such as where the DJ is playing and who his audience is. I can guarantee you that the LA crowd watching Tiesto had the night of their lives, imagine yourself listening to ALL these tunes TOGETHER for the 1st time!! Think of how cool that would be! Your mind wouldn't be able to comprehend such good tunes put together in one set! Hope you guys catch my drift...

Absolutely true. I couldn't agree more.
Welcome to trancEaddict !

i agree with trancegeek (no attitude here )
its good, not great. magik 6 rules all..
but it IS interesting to see his track placement, we're used to seeing stringer earlier and lost vagueness as well... and das glockenspiel later on.
so its fun to see how he mixes and where he cues, like 3 drives into humate was very surprising to me... he didnt mix it the way (cut at the point) he or most other djs do normally, opting to skip over the mini-breakdown... an interesting twist. or maybe its to hold the attn of that LA "trance-newbie" crowd? hehehe who knows

if id heard all these tracks for the first time i probably would have a different opinion. that's prob why i loved magik 6 so much
but all the magiks are quite breathtaking
