Changing Tempo Technique

Just wondering what everyones technique is to change
the tempo of your sets-

Say you're doing a 2 hour set-

Not just a slow build up till the club closes.

I would start with some progressive trance or slow vocal trance @ about 135bpm, @ the middle +/- 140 with uplifting tunes, ending with some energetic trance, ala nu-nrg, or real hardtrance @ +/- 143

And for finishing, powering down the turntable playing, starting a retro track, Jones & Stephenson - The first rebirth (original), or Cherry Moon Traxx - The House of house @ original speed, +/- 150bpm

I just got a track that I'm really excited about. It's Rollerball - Albinoni with the Super8 and Above and Beyond mixes on them. There is a good 35-50 second break with no bass beat. The begining of the track can be used to mix out of your progressive tracks at something even as low as 130BPM. Then when the break hits (and this is a great example of when to use the digital pitch control function most cd players come with now) then crank up the pitch like 5-10% to 140-145BPM. The track then comes back slamming with energy and the crowd will go nuts!

Yea- thats what i sorta do now- I find a song that has a nice break of silence or laser noise- and crank the pitch or raise and lower it a little so it sounds a little trippy then raise it to what pitch i want.

ill usually change the pitch very gradually...like every 16-32 beats or something where there is a big jump in key in the melody... noone seems to notice and even i cant sometimes. i donno if thats the best way but it works for me
