Prices for DJing?

Sorry bout all my naive questions lately, but how much would you charge for a night of DJing?, like doing a few sets, and looking after cds and shit and playing cds etc, just looking after the music from like 7:30-12 or something?

charge them $50 - $70 an hour

yeah I think jc is about right but if it was a bigger event like a ball or a wedding you could probably get away with charging more.

im dj'ing at a 16th this saturday night, from 7 to 12, and thier paying me $350 for that. normally i would charge about $300 but because they want me to play R&B for the entire night i had to make an exception.

when your considering a price you have to think about what your offering, i mean, are you including lighting as well, is the equipment your using good or dodgy..blah blah blah

anyway if you need to ask anymore question then dont hesitate to ask mate

holy shit

well i dont think ill be able to charge that much(even though id love to), because they were also considering hiring a jukebox and i think they are alot less than $350 for a night!
Im taking all my own decks etc, not lights and stuff, not havin them.

Fuck $350 a night . . . its like my dreams, that a farkin car schhtereo mayte!

well dude think about it, how much did it cost you to purchase your gear, $1000 - $1500, yah gotta get that money back somehow! lol i dont know how much YOU should charge, but most people who go through something like the yellowpages for a dj can expect to pay 450 - 500 so yeah.

look if your doing this for a freind then i wouldnt charge much, you can figure that out for yourself, but dont make a habit out of it, i dont know wheter your an experianced house party dj but if you are you'll know that its one big pain in the arse: most of the time your playing music you hate, and the rest of the time your taking requests for 2PAC wannabes and argh!! but sometimes it is great, like once when i was doing a 21st towards the end of it (when everyone was drunk) i chucked on some live tiesto set, sat back and enjoyed it on a pumping system, heh heh during it there were adds like "your listen to such and such radio - the home of trance" lol that was funny.

anyway im drifting, hope you got something out of that

I denied this gig as everyone knows but they were going to pay me $500 for 3 hours of Djing when i was 17yrs old last year for a formal.

But i guess people get more these days.

Remember, while you might get paid 50-70 for the nite/per hour whatever, you also get guaranteed head from some slurry.

and free gear from random off-chops persons who really really really enjoyed your set
