Pioneer HDJ 1000, Stanton DJ Pro 2000 or Sony MDR-V700DJ?!?!?!
Alright all you headphone Guru's...Lets put some of the best to the test and get some real opinions. I am looking into a set of cans but I have hit a point where preference and comfort become major factors as well. These are some major names that I have heard and would like to narrow down the field.......HOPEFULLY a bit!!!!
The pioneers are sooooo nice and comfy...uhhhh....ohhh...
YOU CAN REPLY!!!!
It would also be nice to have some comments about the comfort, durability and any other rare features for the 3 different headphones.
So keep the votes and post coming!!!!
I have used both the sony's and the Pioneers, and I prefer the Pioneers. I think that they are slightly more comfortable, they are definitely better looking, and they are a little bit more responsive, soundwise.
P I O N E E R HDJ1000no doubt about it. The best pair of headphones I've ever owned, and many of my die hard Sony only friends finding themselves buying Pioneer headphones or borrowing my pair constantly. email me for a good price on a pair

PS... use search button also as this topic has been extensively discussed, especially as of late, and there is also a sticky above regarding headphones choices and preferences. Cheers....
I voted Pioneer overall for DJing, keeping in mind that I can buy better-sounding headphones for music listening for less $$$.
i didnt vote, because ive only used the pioneers out of those 3, so dont have an informed opinion on the other two. however i do want to share my opinion on the pioneers vs the technics 1200s and the hd25's
first, the sound quality of the pioneers is a little better then the 1200s but not close to the hd25's. they match up well in terms of comforts and looks, and they are quite cheap. however support is lacklustre as they are new, and the replaceable headphone cord is on backorder as a part (ie you have to wait 3-4 weeks to get one).
overall id recommend them, but make sure you get them from a place that has a replaceable warrenty if there is any problems. mine came with a broken cord right from when i bought them!! which caused me no end of problems trying to get them fixed.
NO STANTON USERS?!?!?!?
There has to be someone out there who has used or listened to the Stanton DJ Pro 2000's.
There ya go I voted stantons b/c I tried them on once and they were nice, but my budy has the sony's and they aren't as comfy as the stantons IMO, but they have bad pressure on the head. and my head fits lotsa headphones just fine. Never tried the pioneers but I hope to get a pair some day.
THE PIONEERS ARE CRAP!!!
Serioulsy,,, just listen to what I have to say.
I baught these heaphones when they first came out,,, and mine along with the three other people who baught them at the same time as me,,, have all had serious problems. In all three cases,,, the right earphone would completely cut out. I also saw someone in this forum who had the EXACT same problem. Coincedence? I think not.
DON'T BUT THE PIONEER,,, THEY ARE A PIECE OF SHIT.
Sure they look nice,,, and might seem to sound great when you first get them,,, but the flaw is in how they are built. If you only use them once in awhile I suppose you'll be okay. But if you use them everyday and are a serious deejay go with something else.
well.. im a stanton user.. i love those things like they're my children..
comfortable, the sound quality is amazing, and they're soooo cheap.. (paid $180AUD for them - about $80US)

dj flesch: they are good headphones when they are working but i was quite dismayed that they were broken out of the box. and the difficulty of getting a new cord is high. from looking on the pioneer and these forums, i am not the only one who has had this problem.
so it is good to make people aware of these potential problems
And though I had already voted, I personally cannot recommend any of these three crap phones when you can buy better even for DJing.

| Originally posted by Dj Flesch Just because you and, what, 4 others? have had a bad experience with them doesn't mean that Pioneer is crap. I've been buying Pioneer equipment for close to 15 years now and I've always been very very happy with each Pioneer purchase. I've owned these headphones for close to a year now and through continued use, I have never once had a problem with them at all. I've even spun out with them a couple of times and still...no problem. I even think that they are very nice for club and rave mixing too. Maybe you should reevaluate how much abuse you and your friends put on your headphones before you start bashing a well established company, because it sounds like you don't take as good of care of them as you should. And before you even retort, if you did take good care of them, why are they broken while hundreds of other owners have kept theirs in mint shape? |
the cord was broken out of the box, and there is no way the shipping could have caused that. as i said, many people have had this problem.
i use my pioneers everyday and i even let everyone use them to dj with at the last TA meetup. Everyone loved them and ditched the sonys.

| Originally posted by Dj Flesch Well, buying something that comes broken isn't really comparable to something that arrives in good condition and then breaks on you. I'm sure that with this still relatively new product, it is possible that they have some production line problems. Did you buy them online? Are you sure that it's not the online dealer that is shady rather than Pioneer? And if you got them at a retail store, then a simple exchange is all that is needed. |

Yeah... well I had them before you and I used to think the same thing. Trust me they're cheap headphones. It's not like I want your guys' headphones to break or anything,,, just don't be suprised when they do. that is all
24K, if you don't like the Pioneers, you'll definitely hate the Sonys, too. The Sonys are very cheaply made, as well, with a major design flaw involving the swivel hinges (which are very prone to cracking within months even with little light use). The heavy, unbalanced design of the Sonys makes that swivel cracking even more likely. And when those (on the Sony V700's) begin to crack, no one knows for sure how long it will take before the sound will cut out on one or both earpieces. I expected far greater durability at the $100 to $150 USD price range at which the Sonys sell for - but I was very disappointed with the Sonys, in terms of reliability.
And the Stanton DJ Pro-2000 isn't as well regarded as either the Pioneer or the Sony, on the whole. I haven't heard those particular Stantons, but I wouldn't expect them to sound any better than even the murky-sounding Sonys, let alone the Pioneers.
Heh. Yes I know this. Actually,,, I owned the Sony 700 before I baught my Pioneers. I've said it before,,, THE FLAW WITH THE SONY IS ONLY COSMETIC. The flaw with the Pioneer directly affects the sound. So switched back to a new pair of Sonys =)
Fair enough, 24K. The problem is, I strongly dislike the Sonys to begin with - sound-quality-wise. :>(
