Remixes vs Originals in 2003

THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK!

I'm not asking what's the difference between the two. I'm going to state on what I've seen/heard so far in 2003.

So far it seems that the remixes are getting more of the limelight than the original trance works. By remixes I don't mean trance tracks remixed by other producers but pop/top 40 (radio material) getting remixed by trance producers. Even back in 2000/2001 I don't remember this many remixes coming out and taking the spotlight away from original works. I'm not saying there aren't any, but compared to the remixes that are coming out this year, there seems to be a lack of it (things that stand out). I don't want to create another thread (like the 1 million other threads about there being nothing new blah blah blah) about bashing what is coming out. What I want is a discussion on where trance scene is headed. Is this how trance in general is headed a year from now, two years from now? Into the mainstream, by mixing mainstream material?

Anyone care to compare the evolutions that have taken place in other genres with the one we listen to?

meh, my $0.02 for now.
