Velocity, tonight is the last show!!!
Oh man this is crappy, I called the guy up and seems like the programming director at XFM doesn't like the show so he got rid of it!! Tonight is the last show.
George told me to email the guy cause it will make a difference!
what????
typical vancouver reaction
fckin twat
whats the email address? i'll send him an email, oh i so will
UGH
so here's the plan. we all email Pat Cardinal at [email protected]. tell him what we think of his decision
then, we write a real letter, get ppl to sign it, and send it off to the fcker
That sucks
I'll email him, even though I don't live in Vancouver, any support helps
Too bad their stream is only 20kbps.
i can't believe that guy's gonna kill velocity...i'm definately gonna email him.
you can double check this, but I believe the email is: [email protected]

I was talking with George this morning, he said that for these emails, he'd prefer if everyone sent them to him so that he can come to the program director with all the names and messages at once.
email George: [email protected]
oh ok
well i sent emails to both of them
me too!
Man I can belive they are cancelling one of the only 'electronic' music shows. Vancouver is so weak.
g-h-e-t-t-o!
who cares.
bring back something liee the URC radio show.
Not shows who play cds or mp3s.
big effing deal.
I rather goto a club and listen to live stuff than listen to a person who pushes play and says a few words.
and if i was stuck at home, that's www.protonradio.com is for.
you ever listened to A State of Trance with armin?
thats what a show with new music is about. a DJ/host plays tracks, then tells ppl about those tracks. tell me, how do you expect to know what that awesome track you heard on the radio when such and such DJ was on?
bender, you may be one of the few lucky ones who know of internet radio and know where to go for electronic music in town, but there are about 80% of XFM listeners who have no clue what this music is, they call it techno, and think that the kids who listen to it are retarded E poppers. when those people are exposed to this music in some way, they hear that its not all that bad, and that's how you spread the music to the masses.
you may not care about where vancouver music scene goes, thats fine, but there are people out there who really do, people who dont want to be stereotyped as kanday raving pill munchers
This is the reply I got from George Maniatis:

Thanks for the kind words. They mean a lot.
If you wish to support the show, you need to email this person listed below.
Thanks again and keep the email short and to the point when you're
sending them. No essays, he wont read them. Be professional.
And please DO NOT forward my email. It should come from you.

Subject: Velocity
Mr. Cardinal,
I recently discovered that the radio show 'Velocity' on XFM 104.9 FM is
being cancelled. I would just like to state my displeasure and lodge a
complaint.
Velocity is one of the few radio shows that Vancouver has to offer that
offers more than repetition of the same few songs and too much talking.
Electronic music is growing in the Vancouver community, and I believe your
decision will be the cause of much upset.
I hope that you will reconsider your decision.

Kate:
I can't say that I disagree with any of your points about the music Velocity
played, however with Xfm's push to play "New Rock First-24.7" we felt that
the music would be a better fit on a station other than Xfm. This move in
no way reflects on the quality of "Velocity" which is excellent.
Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Thanks for your note and thanks for listening to 104.9 Xfm.

hmmmm... I sent this message to Pat:
>>>
To Mr. Cardinal
Just a quick mail to express my surprise that one of Vancouver's few
electronic radio shows has been cancelled.
As an avid listener of Xfm, both during the day when the rock is playing
and on a Saturday night for Velocity, this leaves a bad taste in my
mouth and this is the sort of decision that loses a radio station its
listeners. One could call it short-sighted, a bad decision and one that
will hurt both the radio station and even more so the dance scene in
Vancouver.
In response to this cancelling and as a form of protest I will be
switching from your radio station and no longer be listening to Xfm. As
a direct result of this move you will have lost at least one listener.
Regards
Asher Lipson

I"m tempted to reply to him and say that I'd prefer to not receive an automated message that appears as if he didn't bother to read my mail.
He didn't even respond to the part of your email saying you were boycotting the station! There are a couple of different words, but yeah, pretty much an automated response. How lame.
well, automated response or not, i've just sent him a 3rd email for the day. his second reply was very similar to his first, lets see what he sends me next.
i think when george sent out that email to those who emailed him, he might have been referring to me for the long essays lol i was so pissed off that i ranted a rather long email to him and pat cardinal that i also fwd'ed to george hehe
there's a rather heated discussion on this subject on club vibes as well, in the scene section
also, a great move by arpy from ph1.ca for emailing everyone on the ph1 mailing list about the situation
i'm almost 100% that all our emails will have no effect on pat, however, i think we could annoy the hell out of him with lots of emails and letters of miscontent
(yeah, bad decision, but hey, he pissed us off first)
