sellout?

Posted by melly on Jun-22-2003 07:51:

I believe it means "flowerpot" in spanish, though I think I also read on here that Tiesto chose the name before he knew.

I also read an interview that it is derived from his real name Tijs Verwest....

Basically he took certain letters of his real name TIjs vErweST (TIEST) and then added the "o" to make it sound "italian" which to him sounded cool.

i dont think it is spanish cuz the accent on the E is not in spanish alphabet, so i am curious as well what exactly it translates to if anything

Posted by Cobalt on Jun-22-2003 08:32:

Oh for goodness sake, it was a childhood nickname that stuck. He says that in just about any interview. It doesn't mean anything other than a nickname that he took on as his DJ name.

I will back you up on that one, he really did say that, and all these other replies are wrong!

it's people like these that add absolutely nothing viable to a board and bring it into the ground with baseless shit like this.

take a hint: everyone's got an opinion. yours, however, aren't worth anything. do something constructive. i don't like tiesto either, but you don't see me disparaging him left right and center. at least say something constructive, like WHY you don't like his beats or his style. if you don't like someone just out of spite, then DO NOT SAY ANYTHING. NO ONE CARES.

i'm sick of boards being turned to ass with this.

I say ban em!!!

No but seriously, maybe it's an idea to give out warnings when people bash dj's or do other forbidden things, like posting pr0n. It's just something I see on other boards. You get two warnings and the next time you get banned. Warnings disappear after two weeks.

you won't know this, cos it was before your time, but when topics like this came up until mid 02, there were people who joked like this and it was taken like that, now every time sum1 makes a smart comment, it's taken by n00bs who hijack and call for bans and it just isn't fun anymore, that's putting off a lot of old reg's who made this board what it is, and i wish we could go back to that

We will not go back there cause there was not such a thing. It could be funny for you but there's a reason why people is getting tired of all this useless shit, it isn't funny anymore. These "smart" ones should start getting banned, they deserve it so stop defending them. Or maybe you're afraid of getting banned? Well then change your attitude. Grow up a little that's all.

Posted by Paula on Jun-23-2003 02:56:
