Proposal to Change Union Jack to Combat Racism

This, in my opinion, pretty much sums up everything that's wrong with political correctness - focussing on and nitpicking over superficial specifics and completely ignoring the underlying problem. Call me cynical, but I don't believe that changing the colour-scheme of a 400 year old flag is likely to fix the much more ancient problem of racism.

i agree... too politically correct, and just too stupid to take seriously ..

It's almost like hate crimes in America. Sure, people get punished because of their hate for a minority, yet the minority feels more like a minority because of hate crime laws. They feel as though they get special treatment or something. That new flag change is definitely politically incorrect.

That's just fucking ridiculous. I think this guy has taken the whole "politically correct" thing to a whole new level.

If i did happen, then the racist groups would just use the old flag to their advantage.

But it's not going to happen.

The odd thing about that is that I think I read a while back that even some black southerners don't want the confederate flag removed. They associate it with the South and they consider themselves southerners or something like that.

That's slightly different, the Jews in ghettos originally thought that they could live with the Nazis as long as they didn't bother them. The Judenrats were set up so the Jews could govern themselves and interact with the Nazi officials to hear their pleas. They established their own police force to maintain order in the ghettos. Yes there were a few believing they could gain favors or special treatment from the Nazis by collaborating, most however were simply trying to survive like the rest of them, or performing the same jobs they had before being thrust into the ghettos. Some of the leaders of the Judenrat had some understanding of what was happening to people submitted to Nazi quotas but they thought that by sacrificing the few they could save the majority. It's really quite sad. Few could have ever believed what the Nazis had in store for them in the Endlosung.
