-- The New Cold War
The New Cold War
Well, we had 10 years of peace after the iron curtain fell. But I guess truly peace is fleeting, now we have an invisible enemy that can not be easily routed out, cannot be easily pin pointed, can be your brother, or your sister or can be your neighbour. Even with Saddam gone, there is another enemy. It will be an undending cycle of which there is no definate end. Welcome to a brave new world of increased paranoia, fear, loss of civil rights, racism and prejudice. Why must history repeat itself over and over and over again, have we learned nothing?
Um, actually we do repeat our mistakes because we DON'T learn from our mistakes.
Well at least relish in the fact that this new enemy is nowhere near as menacing as the old enemy. I'm much more relieved that it's the terrorism alert levels being raised as opposed to the defcon levels.

EU will collapse from within by 2020 (with a little help from outside), and become a US satellite. There will not be major military operations, except Muslim fundamentalists will end up in a war with the US, and suffer heavy casualties. The US will win its rivals, and will end up as the supreme Orwellian Empire. |

Then the U.S and Canada, and Mexico will ceate the North American Union with a common dollar currency. India and Pakistan eventually will reach a point where there will be a full scale war and India will win, but at the last resort Pakistan uses nukes and wipes out India, but not before India launches its own set of nukes and wipes out whats left of Pakistan China in a ditch effort to regain control over Thailand launches a full scale assualt on the island and captures it, this in turn causes the rath of the North American Union to start a full scale war with China were Hawaii and certain Californian states in the U.S will be nuked as well as Beijing. The war ends after 25 million Chinese die in Beijing. meanwhile Seeing this war between the NAU and China, North Korea takes the oppertunity to invade South Korea and Japan. They do so without any problems since the NAU is much pre-occupied. THE END! |

LOL
GEORGE ORWELL WOULD BE SO PROUD OF THIS THREAD!!!
As soon as I saw this I was thinking exactly that! Someone needs to write a book or make a movie on these events.
Go NAU!!! We'll invite Mexico to join us and then the Super European Union will be in for some trouble!
Then we can blow England up and call it Oceania. Then we'll all speak Newspeak and it'll be the year 1984!!! Sheesh...
That or Waterworld. Call Kevin Costner.

Hmm, not very optimistic visions. Anyay, here goes mine.
Britain will continue to cause trouble in the EU untill finally it is kicked out. That will cause a general rift in the Union, so some other states might leave the union as well. At about that time Russia joins the new EU, and the EU becomes a sort of trilateral country with Russia, France and Germany as the leaders. In the meanwhile, after being dissapointed with refusals from the EU, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia enter a new union, the 5th one they had in history. About that time the european commission decides that union is fit for the beginning of the process of joining the EU, and that they might become members even before the end of the century. Internal instability, however, threatens to split up the country again. Britain and Israel officially become US's 51st and 52nd states. Canada becomes more and more inclined towards the US, and that causes Quebec to leave canada and join up with the EU. The rest of Canada together with Mexico joins up with the US as well. South America becomes a sort of american sattelite, while Africa becomes an european one. The arab world spends all of its oil, and finds itself in a situation where sand is their only export good, althought most people have quite enough private funds to be carefree for the next few decades. Most countries turned to nuclear power in the meanwhile, so nobody really cares about the arab world anymore except the arabs themselves.
Now in Asia, the situation is a bit harder. China's government will probably loosen up a bit, even to the point Taiwan may willingly come back under the chinese rule. The first generation of presidents of the post-soviet countries finally dies, and a few of them have real democratic elections for the first time. A few minor countries will remain independent, with India being the largest one.
Most probably a new space race will begin when those superpowers become close in size and power, so at about that time first human permanent bases on Moon and Mars will be established by all 3 key powers.
hey what's bad with britain? i think france make much much more trubble than birtain in the european union!
and in 25 years, america has a totallitarian gov. worse than what we have now, where we all have shaved heads and barcodes tatoo'ed into our fore heads. and anybody who resists is put to death for being a threat to the american people. wow. what a grim future...

BTW, did anyone notice that the future superpowers of the world will look a lot like the 1984 countries? You have The US+UK+Israel on one side, the EU+Russia on the other, and China+NK on the third one. And the big brother systems like echelon are becomming more and more popular.
