advice need: Whats the best mixer I can get for $100 - 150 USD?
Greetings all, well to sum it up...
summer = more work
more work = more money
more money = turntables + mixer
I'm pretty convinced to buy Technics 1200 (mk's i think?), but if anyone has any suggestions for other technics, it would be greatly appreciated.
My initial question is what mixer to buy? I'm pretty clueless about mixers because the only one I've used in my life was a cheapy "american dj" one that looked very...err, toyish? I suppose I'm budgeting 100 - 150 us dollars to buy a mixer, but what to buy? To make suggestions easier, I'm not too picky, I don't want a beat-matcher, and I don't think I need all the detail knobs to the sounds just yet. So is 100 - 150 cool? Or should I just throw in some more cash for a better one? Once again ANY suggestions would be awesome help! Thanks all.
ps. Indeed I did do a "search" but most of the threads I read was "best mixer" not "budget mixer" or anything like that.
for 149$, you've got a behringer VMX300
It's a pretty decent mixer...

Yup, have to agree. If you're poor like me, the VMX300 is your best bet for the price.

I'm interested to hear that too... Negative things? The vmx300 is the best mixer in it's price scale!

ya, it does have a beatmatcher, but i cover it off since it only destracts me...
Baaah, don't beleve them. It's the "only buy technics if you want to be a good dj" attitude. I mean, the behringer DJX700 is an EXACT copy of the pioneer DJM600... Only difference: The price. Any why? 'cuz behringer makes the parts in the country of destination itself. That saves alot of money on port costs and taxes. So, in fact, When you buy a pioneer djm600, alot of what you pay on it, goes to the governments of the countries the mixer passes...
I thought the DJX700 is a copy of the DJM 500, but just silver like the 600... considering it doesn't have the sampler. I'm interested to see how it performs, considering how much cheaper it is to the Pios.

Other mixers to Consider: Tascam XS3 2channel mixer Tascam XS4 2channel mixer Numark DM3001X 3channel mixer with eq kill switches. Cheers. |

I'll recommend the VMX200, its a 2-channel version of the VMX300 but it is cheaper. Most likely you are not going to need 3 sound sources at the same time. If you have for example 2 turntables and a CD player you can still hook them all up to the VMX200, you just flip a switch to change which one you want to use.
And about the beat counters: I'll agree they aren't acurate and I don't use them. I was thinking that for a side project I might try opening up the mixer and do a little soldering so that instead of the counters reading the BPM, they would read to say ZAPO.

I don't get why everyone makes a big deal about the beat counters. Just don't look at them, how hard is that?
I've only had the VMX-300 for a few months and after a couple of weeks I was completely oblivious to them.
