Kluivert Can Leave For £1.5 million on Tuesday

Ive just read that kluivert can leave Barcelo9na on tuesday for 1.5 million. The reason for this is because when he signed his contract, it stated that if his wage was to drop, he could leave for this amount of money. His wage is supposed to be dropping by half next year. So they have said taht Kluivert will be able to leave the club for £1.5 million on July 1.

While on the other hand Barcelona are supposedly trying to buy Viduka from leeds.

Cool

i wouldn't mind kluivert @ newcastle

I'm not a big fan of Kluivert to be honest, since he went to Italy and then to Barca I think he has went down hill, don't get me wrong he is still a good player but he is not consistent, when he is good he is good but when he is bad he is very bad. Seen him miss some awful chances. Not a world class player for me.

i reckon kluivert would do well in england!

i think the style of play would suit him more!

newcastle can have heskey.

and liverpool get kluivert

He hasn't been too convincing in La Liga, although he did score against us in both Champions League games.

Still, at that price you can't complain

The rumours about Kluivert have been doing the rounds for months, is there any recent evidence that we're after him?

Today he can now leave I hope we go for him

Ive just read that kluivert has gone missing and not even his agent knows where he is. I wonder where he is?

Maybe holding talks with newcastle representitives.

A number of clubs have been linked with an interest, including:

Newcastle
Arsenal
Liverpool
Chelsea
Man Utd
Juventus

Which of those are true I'm not sure. Both The Sun and Skysports ran stories today claiming that Kluivert is in talks with Freddy Shepherd about coming to Newcastle. His pricetag is just 1.2 million but not many clubs can afford to meet the wage bill he is recieving at Barcelona.

Keep checking NUFC.com for details.

From Ananova today:

quote:
Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert has gone missing during contract negotiations and looks certain to clinch a cut-price move away from the Nou Camp - possibly to Arsenal.

The Catalan club were forced to cut Kluivert's £8million annual salary on Sunday after new president Joan Laporta admitted they could not afford to pay it.

The consequence means the Dutch international is now available for transfer with a price tag of just £1.2million.

Although Barca are trying to renegotiate a new deal, Kluivert is proving elusive with even his agent, Sigi Lens, admitting he knows nothing as to the player's whereabouts.

Juanho Castillo, spokesman for Barca vice-president Sandro Rosell, said: "It is a complicated situation, we don't know whether Kluivert wants to stay or not. His agent Sigi Lens says he can't find him which sounds ridiculous.

"We now have to wait 20 days to see what happens. We suppose that he is trying to gain time maybe negotiating with other clubs, but I don't know which clubs would be prepared to pay the 12m euros that he has been on here."

Kluivert has long spoken of his desire to play in England and recently put Arsenal at the top of the list of clubs he would like to join.

With Juventus also reportedly interested, the Nou Camp crowd, who were so often critical about his contribution to the team, may have seen the last of the former Ajax star.

"We have heard that Juventus are interested in him and have made contact, and that Arsenal did two weeks ago," Castillo added.

"If he wants to go to Arsenal then good, but we want to know the answer as one thing is for sure - it is not helping Barcelona."

Notice that they make no mention of Newcastle. Kluivert will probably expect something similar to the 12 million euros a year he was getting in wages. I doubt Newcastle can afford to pay that

Just the bare facts - no comment from us necessary:

From Soccernet.com, 11th June 2000:

"Kluivert...killed a prominent Dutch theatre director when he was at the wheel of a speeding, uninsured, BMW.

"He was accused of being one of five men involved in a gang rape. After admitting to consensual group sex with the girl, he spent two years under police investigation before charges were eventually dropped."

The so-called "vehicular homicide" took place in May 1996 and the disproved Amsterdam gang rape in June 1997.

For the former offence, the player was handed 240 hours of community service and a three month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

muhahhha, if we get him, how many viloent people will newcstles team have:

I doubt Arsenal can afford it either, due to the fact that they are already in debt and there getting a new stadium.

Don't forget Bernard, who's still facing rape allegations.

More has been added from NUFC.com ...
quote:
On the field, Kluivert has recently been handed a four match suspension after punching Angel Lopez of Celta Vigo in a league game on June 24th 2003.

He also fell foul of the authorities in:

December 1999: Punched Rayo Vallecano defender Jesus Diego Cota. Threatened with 12 match ban.

October 1999: Received four match ban for abusing a linesman during a game against Real Madrid.

June 1998: Sent off and banned for two matches after elbowing Belgian Lorenzo Staelens while playing for Holland in the World Cup.

And away from the field:

August 2001: Caught drink-driving by Spanish police. Fined and banned.

Sounds like he'd fit in well.

Posted by Turner on Jul-19-2003 14:30:

Does anybody actually have any idea about what is actually happening with kluivert?

Posted by evil_bastard on Jul-20-2003 11:57:

I think the latest is that he finally backed down and agreed to stay with Barca.

He would be a cheap steal but it wouldn't bother me if he stuck at Barca. The guy's a mercenary, we want players who genuinely want to play with the toon. He'd have been a good bargain but we don't need him.
