FAO: Alloy Wheel Buffs
#2
i want some alloy wheels, i went to a place in wigston (leicester), as i got told it was the dogs. they had a fair few wheels yea, anyway, i asked what i could have. he said as i have a citroen ax, the only type i could have are these. and pointed. he said as my car wheels are 3 pin (bolts that hold the wheel on) and not 4 or above, these are the only 3 pin'd wheels around. they look ok, but im asking coz i know jack shit and ive looked on the net but cant get very far.
these are the ones hes said i can have:

They also come in a dark grey but personally i dont like them, esp with a black car, just looks like ive got dirty wheels. 450 with tyres for 4.
Is it true about this being the only type of 3 pin wheels? he said that they only come in 15", but 15" will fit my car ok, i currently have 13" wheels on it. Anybody know about other design 3 pin alloys? blah blah ..
tar.
why bother..? its a citroen ax
also i do belive having alloys will increase your insurance...
and i think they are telling prokies about that being the only 3 pin alloy around

The Citroen AX does only have 3 Stud wheels. Unfortunately, that leave very few designs of alloy wheels around. Off the top of my head there are only like 5 different designs from 2 manufacturers max!
In MAx power there are always some pages on alloy wheels and there is always a small section on 3 STud wheels.
Alloys DO increase premiums on your car for a few reasons.
1: they add to the value of the car.
2: They make the car more desirable to thieves.
3: In the event of a crash, and your wheels get buggered, it'll cost more to replace them (related to reason 1)
However, on certain insurance policies (usually by specialist companies in the back of Max Power), they will not add to the rpemium of your car if u have Alloys on 3rd PT, or 3PFT poliicies, asthose policies do not pay for damage to your car in the event of an accident.
Of course good rims will increase performance on your car via increased handling and stability. You will experience marginally less body roll around corners. And of course you will feel the true benefits of big wheels with a decent suspension setup!
And if you're willing to spend, then you can actually get Stud conversions on cars, and you could convert your car to a 5 stud format and get some nice big 20" chromes! That would get you into Max Power!
you can get a conversion kit (much the same as a sex change) but i would advise just to wait and buy better stuff for your next car mate
ive had 5 cars now since i was 17, 22 now - its no good wasting money on shit cars (no offence but its only an AX)
yeah so id sell the thing after a while and get smg with a bigger engine

I remember that feeling.....i used to have a shitty seat ibiza for my first motor, always in 2nd gear for steep hills and it was a task to get up into 3rd
OI! DOn't mock Seat Ibiza's! I've got a top example of one, 1.4L Engine, 95/M Mk2! Then again, my system is worth 60% of the car
is it an AX GT? they can look nice. not being funny, but rate nice alloys like that just looks tacky and stupid on an AX (unless its a rate nice AX GT!)
i think im gona flog it. its a fucking mint first car, 1.1, electric windows, sunroof, imoboliser, sporty-ish design, roomy, v.good condition, interier is nice, but still a 1.1 and im not really after a first car no more.
saw this in the autotrader, i can afford 3k, thats a max tho: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WW...x=37&search.y=6 (4th one down)
I mean thats just an example, 3k and its mint, where as ill be spending 1000 on a 1450 car, so...
