I wanna pick up a pair of self-amplified speakers, but can't afford too much.

for what purpose? ie. Monitors or floor speakers? also what is cheap to you? another words how much do you want to spend on the speakers????

Well, i definately want monitors, and it will be for home use, but at the same time want to be able to throw parties with them. I really don't know anything about specs when it comes to speakers, but i've used yorkvilles and Mackies, and definately don't need anything that powerful. I'd like to keep the price tag under $1000.00 U.S. for a pair with shipping, maybe even cheaper.

why do u need new speakers? I thought u had a pretty good setup as it was?

Well, its alright EXCEPT for my speakers. I've got 2 pairs and a sub, but they are old school home theater speakers. Good until you get into any high volume. My Allen & Heath doesn't even know what to do with them

as far as I can remember, those monitors have a slight hump in the lower midrange. this decreases the neutrality of the speakers slightly. if you use them for DJing this doesnt really matter, but if your into production, it could add alittle colouration to your final mixes.

Well anything by Tannoy is a great speaker. expensive , you bet ya!
are they worth the money, definately! Such an incredible sound from such a little sized speaker. There aren't that many speakers in same price range that would be better than Tannoys. Cheers..

Argh! Fucking insurance companies love to take people's money and most of the time raise their rates for no good reason! My boat insurance went up almost $100.00 last year and their excuse was that the cost of repairing a boat when up if it ever come to it.

I say shop around and get yourself a new insurance carrier. It is your right to do so.

i took the insurance off my car for the summer, i can ride my bike around and save a lot of money (and damage to mother earth)

How car insurance is government operated is a fucking joke. You can't even shop around cause no matter what, you must go through Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. They run the Ministry of Transportation too.

I got 2 speeding tickets in 18 months, both costing $115.00. Which is o.k.

Now i got to pay $350.00 in "Points" to keep my license. What a money scam!

And yes, ICBC are crooks. I can't believe that they can do that. Why would they make you pay off points anyways. They basically are saying that they are going to suspend your licence because you are an unsafe driver (for driving to fast). But they will let you drive if you pay them... That honestly doesn't make any sence. TI's rediculous that they can make you pay that much...

I feel your pain. Insurance for my car is 2800 a year... That + school kills me...

yeah i am from kamloops.. anyway, i know ICBC being govt run sucks, you have no choice. if they double the price, you either pay it or don't drive. which is funny cuz monopolies are illegal in canada.


but you know what's fucked? in AB where you have private insurance companies, choice and competition, the rates are actually HIGHER. crazy eh? ICBC is not actually that bad compared to the rest of canada, we have pretty reasonable insurnance.

however, it's still WAY to fucking much for what it does. $1000 a year or more just for the right to drive a car? which is supposedly so in case you get in a crash, you will be insured. but if you get in a crash, you have to pay MORE for like 8 years!

dude.. that's nothing! I've had my liscence suspended AT LEAST 5 times and paid THOUSANDS in fines and those points we all love so much

However,,, sice I started driving my Lexus I rarely get tickets. But when I owned my 5.0's IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!
