Unhappy Got I problem with a program

It started with this. I was e-shopping at DG and I wanted to listen to the samples(all in *.rm extension) So i started google and ended up downloading a program called Player.

This was a crappy program. It turned all my mpeg in Player Media Files. So I removed this piece of shit and i still can't play some mpeg and other files. My PC keeps asking for program.exe????? and everytime I save a file it starts save as Player media file. It's really driving me nuts!

This is SO pissing me off that I'm planning 2 use the good old Format C: command, unless somebody is able to help me solving this problem!!

Thanks in advance

To change the program that opens a file

Open Windows Explorer.
Click the file that you want a different program to open.
On the File menu, click Properties.
Click Change.
Click the name of the program that you want to open the file, or click Other to select a program that is not listed.

To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
This change affects all files that have the same file name extension as the file you selected. For example, if you change the program that opens a .jpg file, all .jpg files will open in this program.
You can also specify a different program by selecting a file that you changed, clicking the File menu, clicking Open With, and then clicking a program name, or clicking Other, and then selecting the name of the program.

^^i just copied and pasted that from the help file...just make sure you apply it to all files of that extention. and also, the "official" software for *.rm files is RealOne Player. you can set it so it doesnt fuck with anything but .rm files, during the setup i believe.

Okay, this is not going to help you much, but:

Never EVER use RealPlayer. EVER.

Whatever.

If people bothered to go through the steps when setting up software they'd see that you can set which types it defaults to play - and there is even a checkbox to ONLY use Real Player for Real Player files...

Real Player has features/web page/content integration that all the other players have been trying to catch up to for ages - not to mention it is the ONLY one that can be embedded in a web page to play an mp3 stream and be able to talk back and forth with a java applet on the same page (http://www.unknowntracks.com)

Thanks for replying. I think that what somnium said will help.(I hope) But mystery and Swamper the player that I installed isn't the real player or real one player. It's just called player. Here I got it
