going to hong kong tmrw..and decided to buy my mixer there

looking through the website

http://www.fancyproshop.com/eq.html

it has limited selection

so i narrowed it down

vestax pcv 275

stanton rm -3

numark matrix 3

..i think i be going for the vestax...help me pick!

I reccomend the vestax. excellent mixer, one a lot of TAs have.

I DON'T reccomend the stanton, lots of people have complained about it.

the matrix 3, i have heard is a good mixer, but no personal experience. I say get the vestax it rocks (although, it doesn't have individual volume meters, or a cue/live pan, which is annoying but workaroundable)

and the pcv has a pretty good reputation... never used it though...

Well, Vestax has problems with channel faders and replacement parts are almost non existent. Channels tend to bleed after a short period of time, and those models that are equipped with eq kill switches, you can hear the pop when what ever eq frequency gets killed and then turned back on.

bleh

Bah... eventually, all mixer get problems with the faders... but, I agree, it's a pretty expensive mixer for what you get...

bah, cheap vestax mixers have those problems. the 275 has great faders, over a year of heavy almost everyday use, and not a bleed or crackle (and i bought it used from scottaculous here on TA)

also, the EQ switches make NO noise on the PCV275, they are very good!

this is a great mixer, i can personally verify.

hahaha, John, my buddy is at my house right now and he has PCV275, and he is reading this thread, I could see hate in his eyes appearing as he absolutely hates his mixer. He's been telling me for a while how his mixer(pcv275) sucks major ass.

I'd say go with Matrix 3 by Numark, an excellent mixer, that I still have as a back up in emergency cases to my Tascam X-9. I've used my Matrix 3 in clubs a few times and it performed beautifully.

Cheers....

hmm.. strange, haven't hear to many people say that. anyway, it's not the best mixer around, i want to upgrade to an Allen and Heath soon too, but for the price, in it's class, i think it's a good choice.

to each his own i guess!
