56K ISP's

Can anyone recomend a good 56k dial up ISP unmetered (fixed fee) package?

My current ISP, is BT, I'm sure i dont need to mention why i'd like to change, just wondered if any of u peasants, like myself, stuck on 56k could recommend any reliable services

Any help appreciated,

Well BT now only cuts u off every 4 hours, and i have been round my mums this week, and have had no dial up problems with them, and tbh only probs i have had is occasionally when the payment doesnt clear quickly, so i cant login for a few hours.

Anyway, Aol, doesnt DC u at all, but can be very hard to get onto, but once yr on, thats it, and connection speeds are good.

Freeeserve has very good and fast servers, no problems for me gettin on, but they do dc u every 2 hours.

NTL - dont bother, unless u want to get NTL boradband 128k for 15 quid a month, or look into telewest

Hope that helps

Im on freeserve, very good for a dial up except for the 2 hour disconnection thatz my only complaint...

I got freeserve. Apart from the dc every 2 hours, its very good. Doesnt dc me at all between these 2 hours and if i cant connect first time, a box comes up now and connects me to another number automatically, which is helpful.

Good luck in ur search

i hate freeserve's 2 hour cut off, and that redial box annoys me, it takes twice as long to reconnect

Cool

aol is mint, just the aol software is a bit gay + u get no space hardly.

UK2 will give you dialup access for free. As in YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY FOR IT AT ALL.

Lil trick i used to use when my normal crappy dialup ISP went tits-up.

thanks for all replies,

heh, not that i can see an ISP worth the hassle of changing, maybe ttry freeserve but i really dont like the "plasticy" feel of AOL that i picked up from the adverts

Im on freeserve, 'spose the connection speeds arent bad for 56k, 2 hour disconnect doesnt really bother me, if your running Win 2000 you can set it to automatically redial (deep within the menus somewhere), im not sure if its the same for 98 etc.

I agree with magansoma, boycott gayol.

Posted by jon on Jul-03-2003 15:28:

yeah 98 will auto redial too, its somewhere deep in the settings, xp defo does as its what i use!

atm imm on ntl 56k, only cos its cheep and i need my email adress with them still as its what ive used for a load of job recruitment places and graduate trainee schemes and cant be arsed emailing 50 odd companies telling them ive changed it, but as fly said if u live in a ntl cabled area get thw e 128 broadband service

I wouldn't say u get a service like u get on freeserve, like a community portal, a nice lil .exe that sets up your connection settings n stuff, mailboxes, stuff like that. But yes, it is possible to surf all day for porn unmetered and totally free, ok!
