Gatecrasher ONE - Oh dear....

GATECRASHER UNVEILS
BLUEPRINT FOR A NEW ERA..

GATECRASHER, one of the most revered and celebrated clubbing brands in the
history of British youth culture, is set to unveil its unique
boutique-blueprint for a new era in club culture when it launches a new
look in its spiritual home of Sheffield in September. The world famous dance
brand will now become a venue that will host all styles of music, which will
reflect the tastes and desires of its audience and their lifestyle, with an
accent on elegant clubbing.

The boutique-blueprint forms part of a wider remit at Gatecrasher and is
in response to the ever-changing needs and desires of its clubbers that have
loyally frequented the club over the last six years. From the 2nd September
2003, Gatecrashers traditional home, the Republic nightclub will be renamed
simply GATECRASHER ONE. At the same time Gatecrasher will be spending 1.5
million pounds completely re designing and transforming the entire club to
make it a designer led, state of the art, boutique club unlike any other.

GATECRASHER ONE will feature a lavish interior, befitting a high class
designer hotel, with bespoke Philippe Starke inspired furniture, massage
chairs, a unique Oxygen room and a personalised table/lounge waiting drinks
service. The club will also have Gatecrasher's Unique Signature Sound
System, which has been specially designed and supplied exclusively by Opus
with Ostrich skin effect finished boxes. There will also be a specially
designed Vestax DJ booth making it one of the most sought after clubs for
DJs to play in.

Each Gatecrasher night will have a different musical theme and genre
including Disco, Hip Hop, Beats, Fusions, House, Pop, Electro clash, Garage,
RNB, Acid Jazz and Trance. The world famous Gatecrasher nights, renowned
for its Tranceindental experience, will simply be renamed CRASHER and
will continue as a regular feature of the new GATECRASHER ONE experience.

Simon Raine founder and architect of GATECRASHER said Gatecrasher has over
the years been renowned for giving clubbers the ultimate club night
experience, for the best in sound, production, vision and hedonism. As we
have developed, so too has our audience and the clubbers.

They have become more sophisticated and aware of what they want from a
club. Gatecrasher will now become a venue and a lifestyle club brand as
opposed to a club night which will allow us to offer more musical choice,
scope and diversity to Gatecrasher, so that we can provide quality music for
the masses! Gatecrasher has always been about a lifestyle, embracing
different musical styles and genres, that is why we have enjoyed great
success with our Gatecrasher Summer Sound system events, which have allowed
us to fully showcase Gatecrashers eclectic music policy. We are merely
adapting Gatecrasher into a boutique style of venue, catering to our
audiences tastes and desires much in the way that fashion and music evolve.

To transform the old Republic nightclub, Gatecrasher enlisted the creative
prowess of award winning interior designer Matt Rawlinson from RAW who
summed up the design concept by saying; The new interior is a Tribeca
inspired art based environment, a new kind of social space bringing together
fresh materials, new technology and contemporary attitudes to the clubbing
experience. The interior features colour changing acrylic walls, deep carved
and virgin timbers, fibreglass sculptural seating, resin floors and
architectural planting. The areas will morph and alter during the evenings,
breaking the space into functional zones. These will include areas to dance,
chill, and lounge as well as social, interactive and drinking environments.
This groundbreaking design and scheme will be the forerunner and blueprint
of clubbing for the future.

GATECRASHER ONE will be announcing its musical line up over the coming
weeks, it will also continue with its regular CRASHER events at the
Plymouth Pavilion with the next scheduled event on the 24th August with Paul
Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Matt Hardwick & Tom Costelloe.
CRASHER will also continue at Leeds Town Hall on the 1st November, with a
further event planned for the NEC in Birmingham later this year.

FFS this is ghey. Dunno what else to say

Posted by sykadelik on Jul-03-2003 10:34:

Hows that phrase go? 'Clutching at straws/string?" - something like that. Still no mention of improving air conditioning. Anyways the plymouth lineup looks nice.

Posted by Kinuvan on Jul-03-2003 10:39:

it sounds gash to be honest.... but hen again it's not exactly far from what they're doing now... just with a refurbished club and some new names... just gotta hope that 'Crasher' = the old gatecrasher as we knew and loved it.

Posted by sykadelik on Jul-03-2003 11:38:

I say boycott the place until they put some decent air conditioning in!

Posted by goldenarmZ on Jul-03-2003 12:11:

that sounds fucking horrific.

*devastated*

and no i'm not back now

Gatecrasher playing R & B,.

Im sure the club will be nice when its finished, sounds a bit pretentious though. Lending the Gatecrasher name to other music genres is mmmm, gay.
I agree with Kinuvan, hopefully the new "Crasher" nights wont be toss.

/me *bids a final farewell to gatecrasher*

you know, at least i had plentiful good times in that place... back when gatecrasher was at the forefront of trance-music, and indeed, at the forefront of the UK clubbing experience. Back in the days when the management actually had a clue what they were doing. When GC went monthly last year i knew for a fact this was the end of gatecrasher as we know it, and now i can safely say that this diabolical money making scheme will definatly be the straw that broke the camels back.

Goodbye gatecrasher, at least i had 2 years of good nights out of you.

R.I.P, Gatecrasher 1995 - 2003

Posted by jamie on Jul-03-2003 14:44:

It was good while it lasted.

With the current trend for RnB Crap and Scooter/DJ Sammy style trance it was only time till the big clubs buckled under the bills..

Sad day

Posted by Misty Kitty on Jul-03-2003 15:04:

WTF a 'lifestyle club brand' what wont they brand...
'elegant clubbing' again WTF, if ur arrogant enuff n into that whole smooth dress to impress scene and can afford the coke!

Ostrich skin effect finished boxes, what will they come up with next, silk dance floors, serve beer in decanters n pills on silver trays... i know clubbing is an experience, but man i hope we're all there for the tunes and the people not the decor.

Posted by jon on Jul-03-2003 15:30:

Looks like gatecrashers morea bout the than the music, how else can they afford 1.5 mil??

Posted by dstrukt on Jul-03-2003 15:37:

*please note due to me tryin to quit smoking im in a fucking horrible mood so here goes:

I FUCKING HATE POPTASTIC CHART TOPPING HIP HOP IT JUST DONT FUCKING STOP R AND OH FUCKING B!

this prefabricated shite is warping the younger generation to think about nothing but 'bitches & hoes' and what caliber pistol to ask mummy and daddy for at xmas.

these days the music industry is based on $$$$ and the good old fashioned passion for 'the music' is dying, GC has now joined that wanky circle and like Mag said they will follow the same path as Ministry.

This is truely upsetting.

i think they're talkin about the little funky house room at crasher... as there's vestax already in there. doubt they'll take technics away from the main room.

but yeah all this stuff is shite, and i agree with jeff, slang name for the best night just isn't on

sounds to me like they simon fuking raine is being a twat and only letting people in if they look they have shit loads of money - ie dress a certain way etc....i rekon they r tryin to fill the club up with the twats that have lots of attitude and designer labels - the inside of the club is gonna b all poshed up - no spilling ur drinks or being sik on the floor (harry) they r making it into sum kinda cool place to b seen (or trying to) where uberfunkatrons sit n drink pink champagne, music played in the background......why not spend money on gettin sum fukin awesome line ups or doin gc ibiza or even sss? cos they r changing the whole gc era into a new beginning of prentious shitness........howeva i may b wrong and i hope that i am

Posted by flystyler on Jul-03-2003 22:39:
