blatant n00b question

ok, i'm posting this here in hopes that i won't get flamed by the people nearest to me (geographically ). as a n00b, i don't know most of the acronyms and other forum stuff. some i figure out, but i'm stuck on things like lmao and some others. would y'all be so kind as to post some of the stuff you use frequently and tell me what the hell it means? thank you.
